@TimBentley

Nice one ... thanks for swift reply ...

I've had a similar posting on the PMEM/Multiplayer Game Forum - No Reply
Moved it with help from Moderator to PBEM - No Reply

Quick question here ... reply before ink dries ;) ... so I'm thinking of starting a new thread in this general forum :mischief: ... but will wait a bit longer ...

The reason I'm asking this question is for pbem - I realise that most of the time these dealings are subjective ... however its good for the haggling to have approx value of my pig vs your sack of grain :D

Quick question: Does SMD (why do you guys call it SDI anyway?) work for all cities or only the city it is built in?

Thank Reagan. Strategic Defense Initiative.

Is the following situation considered ROP rape?

I am currently at war with the Arabians; their empire was split in two by a pair of Aztec cities. Rather than reload all my troops back into their transports to go after the second half of the Arabian empire, I signed an ROP w/ the Aztecs. With the Arabians gone, I now want to go after the Aztecs (more from convenience -- 150 modern armors sitting right there then anything else). If I ensure that none of my troops are in their borders, and then declare war, is it still ROP rape, or is it just considered "breaking a per-turn-deal"?

That and if you didn't get a lump sum (etc) within the deal, you could still sign ROPs (per-turn-deals) in future.

thanks. i shall now go bring ruination to the Aztec empire

Why is it that in some games you can expand (and see) your palace and in others you can't even see it? I have a feeling this has something to do with the industrious trait, but I'm not too sure.

It doesn't have anything to do with the Industrious trait, that I can say for sure. It *generally* has to do with how your citizens feel about you. I think it's based more on demographics than raw happiness, though I could be very wrong on that one.

It's mostly random, not related to any trait. Supposedly if you win a battle, or get to an age first, you'll get the pop up to build a new castle part.

However, in C3C if you're not playing an epic (standard rules) game, you won't get the ability to build the palace, it's disabled.

Note this means the popup because your people are happy, not the city improvement. You can always build the city improvement to move your capital.

Oh, so that was the reason. I was playing a modded game and wondered why the palace view was not there.

Ok, another question, this has been bugging me for quite a long time now:

What is seed? How does it work?

Seed is less a civ concept and more a computer one. Seed is what is used to determine the random numbers. Try googling define random number seed, there should be a lot out there.

What is c3c's unit support for governments? For all of them (Monarchy, Republic, Communism, Despotism, Democracy)

I want to modf my vanilla game so it's close.

I want to modf my vanilla game so it's close.

The only one that's changed is Republic, which becomes 1 per town/3 per city/4 per metro with 2g per unit above the support limit.

My CIVIII disk is wearing out (maybe I have been using it too much?). It has a few radial cracks extending out the the center hole, and sometimes won't start up. I'm in the middle of a GOTM. I wonder if I should buy a new edition of the game? If so Which version? PTW? Complete? Or What? Any Ideas?

Thank you, eldar. I was about to pm you to ask you, but I thought it might be easier to ask here. I found it right after i posted.

As for the question, I recoment you buy complete.

My understanding is that CIV3 complete would be the best buy for you if you haven't already purchased C3C. Complete contains Vanilla and C3C (which has PTW included). If however you've already bought C3C, then your best bet is the bargain bin at CompUSA, Fry's or a similar computer store. It should be about $9.99 at one of those locations.
