Military GL's can't Rush wonders... only small wonders, FP's or Palaces's...FYI
Actually they can, if you're playing [civ3] or [ptw]. The restriction on MGLs to not be able to rush Great Wonders was added in [c3c].

If I complete my granary on the same turn I my city grows, will I get the food granary effect right away or next time the city grows?

You will get the bonus next time. This is the reason it can sometimes to worth to halt growth to make sure the granary completes one turn before the city grows.

You initiate your golden age by either winning with your UU (chasqui scout) against a non-barbarian.

Not an easy task if I may say so - their stats make them fast warriors. Trigger a GA while warriors are still around is a wasted GA IMO (you can't have many cities then). Later - if you are lucky you might be able to defeat a redlined spearman

P.s. UU attacks on AI Workers/Settlers/Scouts/Catapults and other defenseless units WON'T start a Golden Age!....need a Battle. ;)

You also may want to wait until you get out of Despotism before going GA.......otherwise some Commerce/Shields may be "suppressed"! ;)

I would probably redline a spear and cross fingers :) If the chasqui is veteran it should also be able to take out a redlined pike. In any case the trick is to redline, because the chasqui is so bad at fighting that the odds can't be stacked too heavily.

I second this a lot! Bonus grassland won't get the extra shield (2 base shields + 1 from GA - 1 from Despotism penalty) and roaded tiles on rivers won't get the extra commerce (2 base commerce + 1 from GA - 1 from Despotism penalty). The best timed GA can be when you are out of Despotism, in the middle ages with the expensive 100 shield markets and 200 shield univerisities.

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if it was possible to trade with civs without having direct "contact" with them. Can I just use an embassy or my trade advisor to get a trade going or do I need to keep a unit near their units?

You just need to have a road to their capital, or BOTH have a port on the same ocean, or BOTH have an airport.

The roads way is the most common.

Of course, thats just for luxuries and Resources. You can trade techs with no road contact at all.

Sorry I may have misworded that.

I was wondering how to get the trade screen to come up after I've met the other civ. After an embassy is established is it possible to open the trade window whenever I want or do I need to keep a unit near them?

@ JaggedRuler

See Screenie below - [Colonize! Mod by GRM7584] - notice the following
'D' - stands for Diplomacy = when clicks lists all Civs and your relationship (peace or war) ... click on one = straight to Dip/Trade Negotiations.
'E' - stands for Espionage = straight to Espionage Screen
'V' - IIRC Victory Conditions
'I' - IIRC Introduction

Hope this helps

You can just double-click their picture in F4 or click the "D" on the right (or press Shift-D or Ctrl-D or Ctrl-Shift-D, I don't remember which) to open the trade window.

Thanks guys, I knew there was a simple answer! :goodjob:

It's Shift + D (or Control + Shift + D in C3C when a worker is activiated, as Shift + D is a worker command (clear damage, I think)).

Yeah, I hate that. I'm so used to Ctrl-D that I almost always send at least 3 workers accidently to a volcano...

Bugs me even more than hitting "E" when I meant to hit "R".

When it says quick answers, it doesn't mean that quick (although sometimes it is). When you have researched all of the technologies, you start researching future technologies. These don't add much to your score because it takes so long to start researching them. Welcome to CFC.
