Quick Q: MP Speed Help please

Does the speed of the computer that "hosts" (starts up, saves the game, etc.) affect the speed of the MP game?

I have a new macbook, my friend has a PC, he usually hosts.

Pardon? One thing is the machine speed, the other is the game speed. These are two different things. This shouldn't cause any trouble.
Since i have no Civ5 on Mac i can't imagine about compatibillity issues, but as far i heard, only mods seem to be not working for Mac.

In my experience it's the speed of the hosts' provider that matters most. The upload speed. I've found game works best if the host has 2mb or more upload. Especially for games with players from different continents. You can easily check your speed at: www.speedtest.net It takes about 20 seconds.
