Quick question: How to use Mod-Mods

As the title, how do I activate a mod-mod?

I see the main mod (Rhyse and Fall) in the mod list and can successfully activate it. I do not see the mod-mod.

I have followed the instructions for installing both mods. However, I am 95% sure that the mod-mod is not being loaded, as I checked the changelog and the changes I saw have not been applied to my current playthrough.

Is there some additional step needed to load the mod-mod? I wasn't entirely surprised that it wasn't listed in the modlist, as the mod-mod is much smaller than the core mod, so I thought loading the core must be the correct thing to do.

Thanks for the help!

Unnecessary history:
After trying to love CiV and BE, and then immersing myself in Paradox Interactive's grand strategy games, I have returned to Civ IV for some variety. I always loved the Rhys and Fall of Civilizations mod, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that development has been taken up by another modder doing Dawn of Civilization! I also saw a mod-mod for DoC, called Dawn of Knoedel, which has some balance changes that I wished to check out.

Oops, it seems I've figured it out. A moderator may remove this if he/she wishes.

I discovered that although there are some mods in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Mods

They did not match up 100% with the mods I was seeing in the client. When I poked around the folder structure some more, I saw:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods

There, I saw that the folder names matched exactly with what I was seeing in the client. I moved the mods to that folder, and they now appear in the client. :goodjob:

Mod-mods can be confusing because some actually depend on the mod they are based on and have to be unpacked "on top of" the base mod to work. This is not the recommended way to do it though. In general you can assume that a mod-mod works just like any other mod.

Your problem seemed to be unrelated to that though. Great that you solved it. I'm leaving the thread here because other people might run into the same problem and look for an existing thread. Thanks for describing your solution as well!

(And also thanks for your interest in DoC, we have lots of new people coming in for some reason lately which is great. I hope you enjoy the mod.)

I just loaded it up for my first game... there is a lot more than when I was playing 'vanilla' RFC! It's exciting to see that this excellent project has found new life :goodjob:
