I put this in the main forum but then suddenly thought, this is were all the AI guru's hang out so will ask here

The explorer AI for a land unit, if i used this on a land unit that can attack, will this break anything?

I know setting unit AI's outside there box so to speak can upset things and all land units with Explore AI have a can only defend box ticked, so if i unitkced that box would the AI still use the unit as intended or use it to attack or crash everytime it builds one:confused:

I'm modding in a couple of new units, and the AI part of what to give to what is proving a little tricky to my less knoweledgable mind:crazyeye:

Dunno, I guess the AI will use this unit for exploring only since the AI is already using "normal" units for scouting. Warriors do not have the explorer AI for example but will be used for that. Also, you will often see other units scouting.

Short answer: No problem at all.

The UNITAI a unit runs determines the set of behaviors it tries each turn. So, depending on the circumstances units running UNITAI_ATTACK will often go out exploring, while units which can attack running UNITAI_EXPLORE will attack nearby units if they come across a good opportunity. The one thing EXPLORE units won't do is defend ... they'll get moving around constantly throughout the game, which is okay since the AI doesn't build many of them anyway.

Ok brilliant:), my mildly improved explorer is not that hot, but at least now he can distinguish himself from the scout by being able to clear that annoying barbarian warrior out of a hut space

I'l stick good old explore AI on it:goodjob:
