Quick Question re Multiplayer

Hi all,

I am trying Multiplayer CIV 4 via gamespy internet lobby. My buddy has made a new game and I can't find it, and he can't find mine when I start a game. He lives in Australia and I am in England - would that make a difference?

Any help would be great - we don't really want to go down the port forwarding route.

first thing I would check is if either of you are running mods.

I do have a buddy that I can't play against unless he bypasses his router firewall and hooks the computer direct to his internet modem though.
