Since I installed patch 1.52, quick-save doesn't work. When I press shift+f5, a warning pops up saying if I really want to overwrite the earlier quick-save file (the first attempt on a quick-save during a game is always successful). I press accept, then the screen turns black and then I get the "Civ 4 has encountered an error and needs to close" message and if I want to send a report to Microsoft.

NOTE: This didn't happen with patch 1.09.

I have the same problem as you, although the problem occurs only about 50% of the time.

Please post your dxdiag.

What maybe happening (maybe ....) - depending on the graphics you have, and the time between saves - is that the work involved in saving increases the more turns you have between saves.

The changes V1.09 to V1.52 placed more work on the graphics card, taking up any "slack" they had if there is a low(ish) card - therefore any increase in work load can tip it over sometimes.

Dxdiag will help understand what you have and what might help. If you get an option to send a crash report to Microsoft, please do always, MS have a deal with Firaxis to pass on Crash reports - they are very useful to Firaxis.

Zy

I get the same problem, just that it's a silent "crash to desktop" (no error messages). The last line in PythonDbg.log is:
PY:OnPreSave

I don't get any problems with normal saves, no matter how frequently or infrequently they are done, so I don't see how it could be a graphics problem (dxdiag reports everything ok). I also don't have any other crashes (CivIV eats a lot of memory though).

Win2kPSP4, 5600U with ForceWare 81.98

It appears that this bug was already reported in the bug reports section.
