Quicker Games

What map-size, difficulty, era and speed setting will allow for quick games? I've been playing on Small Earth/Continents, Prince - King, Ancient, on Standard speed or Quick and games last WAY TOO LONG. I don't want to always be putting 24 game hours into a session over time.

Long games are what civ has always been about. However, if you're talking about length due to lag, it's been discovered A.I. workers are nearly the only source of it, and a patch is coming to fix it. So hold on In addition, switch to strategic view during battles so the animations are skipped.
