R-Base ability

Hey guys.

I know for a fact that the AI uses the R-base ability on air units to transport jets to cities under air attack or to cities near enemies to bombard them. In my tests I havent been able to make them use the R-base ability however, so I can't complete my tests.

I don't know if you knew but the AI ignores some 'special actions' such as bombard for land units as long as the selected strategy is correct. For example:

-If X unit has the strategy flag selected of 'artillery', then it won't matter if the special action 'bombard' is on or off, because the AI will always bombard. I found this out by forgetting to turn it on, on one of my units. The result was that the AI bombarded me, but I could not bombard back.

I was trying to find out if it was the same case with the R-base ability as I have different strategies with the human and AI, with the same unit. AI will use my air unit as immobile, but the human will move them. To compensate the AI would be allowed to R-base, but not the human.

This only works if the same is true for R-base as my bombard example. Does anyone know for sure? I cant make the AI re-base for any reason in my test scenario.

I assume that you mean the "rebase" order for aircraft?

I have disabled it on my airships. The human player has to rebase them by moving them to their new destination (all terrain as roads helps and as air unit they can cross both land and sea).

The KI is able to simply rebase them. I know this since in my first game with them, my fleet bombed an island city clear, but in the next turn there were half a dozen of them again in the city. ;)

The same applies to the "Airdrop" command. If you activate the strategic checkbox "transport" for an air unit, but leave the "airdrop" command disabled, the KI will still airdrop anything the air unit can carry. I discovered this the hard way...

Nice man!!!!! How come I only have 2 pages of the last posts, and yours doesnt show? Your post is not even that old. Its from march!

Please look in the thread category at the top of the page. There is a box "Display Options", were you can change the time table of the threads shown (site standard is 100 days).

Personaly I find this limitation somewhat useless, as I have seen at least three threads with the question about the dissapearing of old threads. ;)
