Race Wars 1: Nordic Sagas

i don't think we should worry about capturing cities. We're so close to the end game, that just razing will allow us to quickly finish this. Do we really need to worry about Arabia filling the vaccum we create from ruining the aztecs? I don't. They'll reduce their population in their core cities when they should be strongest, and will stretch defenses as well. If we ally with them, they may capture some cities, but as long as we get the core destroyed, the out-lying cities will require another assult but will fall easily when it's time. We *NEED* a MA with Arabia or I can almost ensure we'll be fighting a 2-front war.

Well, we got the anarchy thing, 5 more turns, going so I’m not going to do much checking.
We have pulled the Arabs into the war on our side. They wanted horses but I tossed them some gems.
Zerk from boat kills LB and captures settler near Arab-Viking boarder.

Turn 1, 1490AD, Turn 288
Two spears killed at Jilotzingo by zerks.
Zerk falls to spear at new Tlacasomthing and brother zerk kills off spear and auto razes.
Army attack New Texcoco and autorazes.
Tlatelolco attacked. We kill two muskets w/ vet zerks and loose elite zerk to regular musket.
Cav and zerk kill off two defenders in Tequixquiac
Cav army collects 25g from barbs.
Zerk kills strike out of Ironthief to pre-empt LB and promotes to elite.
Zerk army attacks Chiauhita and kills off pike

IBT: Horse attacks Ironthief and kills MI and takes the city.
Turn 2, 1495AD, Turn 289
Zerk takes back Hammerfest.
Cav and zerk kill off two defenders and take Tequixquiac
Zerk army kills off two more pikes and take Chiauhita
Arabs are clogging the narrow land bridge over to the Aztec lands.

IBT: Musket, cav and 2 LB approach Curovernum.
Turn 3, 1500 AD, Turn 290
Dump off two zerk in Curovernum. First zerk kills off musket, second zerk dies redlining the cav. Have musket to defend agains two LB’s. We shall see.
Zerk Army take Chapultepec
Arabs are still hogging the chokepoint so I fan out the cavalry to stem the flow of units.
Army take Zitlaltepec.

IBT: Musket redlines LB at Curovernum but then falls. Second LB kills off zerk and takes the city. Kyoto riots. Arabs built Newtons in Medina.

Turn 4, 1505 AD, Turn 291
Found New Oslo
Kill off musket at Tula and generate GL. Going to keep the town, load up an Army and raze everything.

IBT: Anarchy ends and we install a Monarchy. Piece of crap Arabs still have the choke point monopolized. I’ll get some boats over there as this is just getting on my nerves.

Turn 5, 1510 AD, Turn 292
Moving boats over, more offensive action, etc.

IBT: Looks like the Aztecs are going to unplug the choke for me but then they just sit there as well. Fine, we’ll load up and land behind them. Ha!

Turn 6, 1515 AD, Turn 293
Take Ayotzinco.
I'm getting caught up in just getting these turns over and into the hands of the next player. Sorry for the lack of detail but I'm not sure it matters much at this point.

IBT: The Arabs seem to be enjoying this war just a little too much. Much bloodletting.

Kill more stuff, Take Coyotepec...

Abu has Nationalism

IBT: Oow-ah, Arabs pour through the chokepoint killing about a half dozen Aztecs. Aztecs strike back and kill off a few AC. Arabs finish off Bach's so we'll have to change to something big.
Turn 8, 1525 AD
We switch Bach's to a Military Academy at the loss of no shields.
Kill calv on northern island w/ zerk army and move back to Tula to heal. There's more action up here that I expected.
Land Army next to Tenotichlitan
Zerk kills musket in Thenochipipy and razes the city.
Aztec units killed and a settler captured, blah, blah, blah...

IBT: Aztecs seem to focusing their units on the Arabs.
Turn 9, 1530 AD
Found Stockholm.
Kill off more cities but they still have a bunch scattered far and wide.

Turn 10, 1535 AD
Celts dropped off a cavalry near Washington. As earlier, there’s not much defense in place or reaction force to kill it. We manage to take a hp off but the MI dies trying. We rush a few muskets and a cav in nearby cities to handle this next turn but we’re going to loose a city over this lapse in defense.

We have troops all over killing Aztecs. It's a bit wild but it seems to be working. Six armies, 20 Cav, 20 Zerks, 18 Galleons and 52 muskets! It's hard to believe we have that many muskets as it seems like we still have plenty of undefended cities and cities defended with MI.
 
BTW, it's been 72 hours since I posted without comment. Were my turns that bad?

I captured most of the Aztec cities attacked and in some cases left them without a garrison but with one in route.

ACK! I didn't even see you post JB! I'm so sorry! Work has been heteic the last few days. Was actually great turns! Lots of cities taken and I don't remember seeing any losses. Don't feel bad about detail... is at the point where we all know where we stand, what needs to be done, and how we're going to get there so I think just major events need be listed.;)

I don't know if SC knows he's up or not... I'll send him a IM tonight and see whats up. If I don't see him tonight, we may need to skip him.:(:(

OK, I've got the game, but it is number two on the list so I will probably take the full time allowed. I'm also up in the SGOTM so two war games will take some time. I'll see it I can get some screen shots up. Are we going for conquest or domination? Please refresh my failing memory.

I've been really busy with RL stuff, so I put a notation in my sig requesting that I be autoskipped until tomorrow, but I wrote down the wrong date. I tried telling Alerum, but he hasn't been on. Last night was the first I've been to CFC in weeks, not spending much time online at all.

Pre-flight – There is a menacing Aztec cav near the front. Kill him. We’ll lose a settler on the IBT. Change a bunch of cities that are building military to barracks :rolleyes:

Wake up our zerk army in Chapsomething and kill a pike in Itsdabomb. Change Stavanger to a settler and rush for 16G.

Washington is going to fall next IBT – We have no defense in our back yard. It looks like a musket was rushed in Washington. Our build cycle comes after the Aztec turn so that was money wasted. Although I can see the idea, rush a musket in all nearby cities.

Monty has 20 cities. Let’s see if we can put a dent in that number.

2. 1545 AD – Capture Malinco. Kill two defenders in Tlaxsomething with an amphibious zerk attack and the bring up the cav army to capture the city. Capture Xochiwhatever and Monty’s saltpeter.

Kill the musket guarding the settler and we have two more slaves.

Find a galleon full of zerks forted. :rolleyes:

IBT – Tlacopan flips. We lose one redlined cav.

3. 1550 AD – AT Curov.., lose a zerk and kill a cav.
Recapture Tlacopan. Autoraze Alcatraz. Autoraze Chalco.
Our zerk army takes Huexola.

4. 1555 AD – Capture Tenoc, the capitol. Capture Teohitucan and the Colossus.

We loaded a pike into a zerk army and our zerk army cannot attack from the sea.

Autoraze Chalcuhua. Found Alerumiun. Autoraze Twotitland. Capture Curovoium. Capture Teayo. Capture Ixtaplaca, oops sorry, it razed. Monty has been removed from his northern Island.

So Monty, How’s your 3CC working for you.

IBT – Monty has a counter attack! A cav is kiiled by a LB.

5. 1560 AD – Capture Tepexpan. Capture Texcoco. Monty is an OCC plus a settler on an island. Land some cavs next to the settler.

IBT – Tlaxcala flips. A new Aztec city is founded.

6. 1565 AD – Tlaxcala recaptured. Capture Calixsomething. Destroy the new city of Ixtaplaca Ididn’t I destroy that once already. We have destroyed the strong Aztecs.

Start setting up for Arabia and Egypt. Egypt should be a two turn war at the most.

7. 1570 AD - :sleep:
8. 1575 AD – Found Bedeheim.

IBT – Steam comes in. Go to lone scientist.

9. 1580 AD – We have two sources of coal. Start the strategic rail net.
10. 1585 AD – Workin’ on the railroad.

After Action Report – We could probably take out Egypt any time you want. You’ll find a force in Hafnafjordur. We will need to get some folks up to the Arabian frontier before you start that war. Just keep building cavs and cannon.

I have most of the workers arranged in 6 turn packs.

There is a good chance I won't see this game again. It's been nice playing with you guys.

Four island outposts are easily razed and an Arab Expeditionary Force in the southern gateway to their lands is destroyed. Sana'a in the old Aztec lands is a little harder to crack and a zerk is lost to a spear.

Discover an Arab AC settler pair wandering in the north.

With Pentagon complete load the two cav armies to full. Remind self not to load zerk armies to full.

3-1600
Raze two more outposts and set up for invasion of Arab main from both north and south.

Seizing the landbrdige between Arabia and Azteca delayed by Arab land forces out of Tabuk, who take Tamuin.

4-1605
Retake Tamuin and sail zerks for Arab coast. Bombard Caidz but fail to take the ville.

Whittle down Arab forces in old Azteca. Take another island outpost.

Cadiz falls and burns

Repostioning and finishing railnet. Kill a few Arabs and set up the southern invasion force. Take another outpost towm.

7-1620
In the assault on Merw (the last Arab island outpost) Hubba is spawned by elite cav after SC* is killed by elite spear. Finish off the elite spear with a zerk and keep the town. Hubba forms an army and boards a waiting galleon. he'll be joined by the two cav's on the island then shifted to the southern flank of Arabia.

8-1625
Railnet is finished across the continent

Kill a couple of Arab longbows in the far north.

9-1630
Take Taif and hold it as it makes a nice place to keep an eye on Egypt.
Found New Birka on the Egypytian border on a choke. Found New Aarhus on the other choke.
MilAcad produces a General who races north and recruits a full complement of cavalrymen. The march into Arabia begins with a cav army, cannons and muskets. Kill an Arab MDI and capture two more slaves on the southern front. Rush a settler out of an Aztec city to provide a settler for the southern front choke point NE of Tabuk.

Zerk army razes Tabuk.

Somewhere in there managed to take away Abu's iron and horses, if he ever had any.

10-1635
Form up another cavlary army in the south. Seize the southern choke. Destroy an Arab force of bows and rifles, lose a cav. Unload a zerk army at Cempola to avoid sinking by Arab frigates. Raze the Arab city in Azteca lands on flank.

The southern choke is held by three armies, and a settler is on the way. The northern force is ready to march on across the tip of Arabia. As near as I can tell there are no counter threats at any of our strongholds. Jilotzongo rioted and there is an Egyptian knight nosing around. There are troops on the Egyptian border in case Cleo gets shirty. A couple of towns are on the verge of rioting so please check before hitting enter. The worker horde has been returned to the core to finish the terrain improvements there.

Abu has no offensive forces left, just rifles in defense and longbows for attack. I think I only saw one Arab cavalryman, a few MDI's and lots of longbows.

I would settle the choke south of Damascus, rush a barracks, heal up the armies, load some boats with zerks and zip right up the coast. In the north move the stack across to the coast, take the town and then move north to clear that flank, then move down the east coast with support from zerks in boats. Abu does have frigates wandering loose but when I took the little ville on the northeast of the Azteca lands I think I sunk his only troop transports. The rail net is complete from one end of the mainland to the other so getting reinforcement from the core to the front should not be a problem. When we clear the northern cities, move the worker horde up to run rails behind the advance.

Have fun alerum. This game was a blast and I hope I left you a rousing finish.
 
what is it with everyone and killing everything in sight?;);) I got it, and should hopefully be able to post in 24. Got SGOTM and commited to that first, so will do whatever I can to get it up tommorow.

Take Pi-Ramesses and pray it won't flip. Never, it's not worth it and we have settlers about ready. Disband the city.
With only a spear in Jilotzingo, and a knight on the way, I disband it. It's been a pain in the butt anyway.

Take out Egyptian ship, but didn't kill their settler. I hate when that happens.

Unload army in Xochicalo then use galley to try and take out frigate. It doesn't work and so we have to rush a galley in Xochicalco. (rolls his eyes) I'm playing this very badly.

Position units for Medina.
Raze bukra with a zerk army.
Their huge culuture is making this very difficult, even for our fast movers.

continue to use workers to make a long railroad line from the core to arab lands... I'm able to drop off units much quicker, but still takes at least 2 turns a city due to their culuture size.:(

Nothing... battles at Baghdad, and Fustat and took out a rifleman near Khurasan. They still have a potent navy, and it's really prevented anything but cav attacks. Anything I put in a boat seems to be sunk..

I'll stop here, and post to the site. It's going to take longer then I first thought. I was planning on taking baghdad... they have alot of units in their cities. Alot. I'm getting about 6-8 units in most cities... took 2 armies, and 4 cavs to take Medina, and Baghdad is going to take the same.

Just keep taking a city, removing it's culuture and using the huge stack of workers I have there to make railways.... should be enough to break in half at some point and get 2 stacks going north and south to make sure it goes even quicker.
Is going to take 10 turns, and you need to get an galleon up north and take out Yamama. on that little island.

It's been fun playing with y'all, just wish I could have left my last turn set a bit cleaner. Any ideas for Race Wars 2?;)
