has anyone updated to this version?
anyone whose games was running BEFORE, i mean :)

i'm not sure i want to risk breaking anything (it does run for me).

My very bad graphic corruption remains after installing this driver. I've also tried the 4.10.......nothing helps.

when it's about technical details, the complainants are suddenly nowhere to be found.
what a total coincidence.

is noone trying to actually FIX their purported problems?

The game wouldn't load before installing the ATI 5.11 drivers and it didn't load afterwards either. If it's working for you now, I wouldn't change something that isn't broken.

:)
that's why i'm asking

Strange, I upgraded to 5.10, and 5.11. It didn't give any performance enhancements, but it didn't break it either.

It shouldn't necessarily have any visible effects. 5.11 fixes some bugs in OpenGL (which Civ4 doesn't use) and provides support for some new cards. I upgraded to 5.11 and my copy of Civ still crashes every couple of turns.

asnot how the heck can you play the game at that resolution?? I have the same config minus 256M ram and its not pretty! :)

Ive updated to 5.11 and CIV works perfect for me.It worked perfect with 5.10also :) .I like to have the latest driver´s installed on my PC´s so thats why i updated them.

I was on 4.12 when everyone was at 5.10. I recommended to use 4.10 (by mistake), and it helped some people, mostly sith R9200/7500. As for me, 4.10/4.12/5.10/5.11 had no difference. With all of them it never crashed, and with all of them it is slow due to virtual memory size.

After installing 5.11 I got a bug that whenever I load a saved game and try to select any of my units, the computer crashes and I have to do a HW reboot. But, if I pass one turn so that AI can move its units, then I can select any unit. I am not sure if I had this problem previously, but now it is apparent. The usual stuttering movies and cannot load file this and that remain. Mostly I can play pretty well and have no major issues, except for this load game bug.

I upgraded my drivers from 5.10 to 5.11. Civ4 worked fine before and works fine afterwards, no difference.

X800Pro 256mb

I am running just fine but the land masses stay black even after discovery. I have tried all 3 different video settings but no help.

Curious what card do you use.

ok, I have used 5.10 & the latest omega one.
Got mixed results, with black terrain sometime.
I read somewhere here that making CIV4 process HIGH priority makes a difference.
So, I uninstalled omega (reboot), installed 5.11 (reboot), then made a batch file that loads the game at high priority... the impact was immidiate & awsome, my last save game that took a long time to load last time to less then a minute & the game run flawless & faster then before.

So, installing 5.11 + HIGH priority worked for me, although this is still one time experience, later I will play again.

in batch file I put:
cmd /c
cd "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4"
start /High Civilization4.exe

Hope it works.
Oh, I have 9700pro

and you're running winXP i would bet.

Both 5.10 and 5.11 make civ4 crash when I load a game. The solution was to not use any drivers from ati.com and revert back to the microsoft default drivers for my radeon 9700. Still crashes, but I can usually get in half to an hour of gameplay before that happens.
