In my latest game Gandi is dominating the game. My coastline defences are barely holding the Indian landings. I'm playing for sport, Gandi has already clearly won the game. While my scientists boast gunpowder India already has battleships.

This game is very fun. On my first turn I randomized the AIs personalities (alt + R).

I reckon randomizing is only a good thing. It makes every game different. One game you could have 6 Kahns and the next everybody could be peaceful and cultured. You also have to watch out. Just because you are bordered with the Zulus doesn't mean they are going to be stuck in the stone-age as you move up techs. It's fun taking into account that you don't know what the other civs stradegies are.

I never knew about the power to randomize AI personality. I also never knew they weren't randomized to begin with. I never noticed a pattern (I never played on Earth, either) so every time I encountered the AI I made no assumptions about how it would act. It seemed random to me because I never tried to remember how they acted in the past.

Check out TGG's intelligence report:

It's great. It shows that every civ has up to one of each attribute from the following:

Aggression:
Aggressive = 2
Normal Aggression = 1
Friendly = 0

Development:
Expansionistic = 2
Normal Development = 1
Perfectionist = 0

Militarism:
Militaristic = 2
Normal Militarism = 1
Civilized = 0

The Mongols are:
Aggressive
Expansionistic
Militaristic

While the Babylonians:
Friendly
Perfectionist
Civilized

Surely, you noticed the Babs are always weak (unless they are on their own) or the Mongols just want blood.

Anyway, I finished my game last night. The Indians didn't win! They were eaten by Babylonians. And it was the Babs that wiped me out in 1865. I think I did pretty well considering I defended my island against impossible odds from 500AD to 1865AD ^.^

Now I playing a EARTH game on King again and I randomized the leaders. I'm the Romans are pretty much have chariot-conquered the world cept for the Aztecs in the Americas and the Indians/Chinese in the far east. Interesting effect of alt-R.. The English weren't content with their measly island and tried to take land from the glorious Roman empire.. London was size 6 pretty early in the game (biggest city at the time) and tickled my fancy so I took it :)
Now all remains is the task of city sprawling throughout Asia and Africa. I got the Europe and the Middle East under Roman rule and I have one city in the heartland of Africa where an advanced tribe was discoved and bowed under my mighty rule. :king:

Another interesting effect of Randomizing leaders is that their cities were in slightly different places. For instance, the Zulu capital of Zimbabwe was half way up Africa against the western coast :confused:

Maybe the new leaders feel differently about where their cities should go.. ;)

Wow, never tried to randomize, must try this!

No. I don't even remember ever having Babs in my games (although I remember Hammurabi, so they must have been present). They were probably a push-over and I didn't give them any thought. :mischief: As for the Mongols, they seem to be in every game I play, and they are always trouble. So there is obviously truth in this idea that AIs follow a pattern.

Mm. If you get an embassy with another civ try checking out the embassy screen. You will notice it states that civ's personality.
