Random Useless fact about founding a Pantheon

I just found out that you can found a pantheon (and presumably a Religion) on the same turn that an AI does (as oposed to wonders, where the AI will always get it if on the same turn).

How it happened was thusly:
One AI had previously founded a pantheon, making the cost for the next one 15. I had a shrine built in my capital 7 turns ago (and thus had 7 faith). I met La Venta, who awarded me with 8 faith, bringing my total to 15. "Too bad this doesn't work like culture", I thought to myself; "I could found the pantheon now." So I clicked next turn, and the little notifications started popping up on the right, and I see an unknown civilization was started worshiping a pantheon of gods ..." "Great!" I say to myself, but then their turn ends, and poof! I am asked to found to pantheon, rather than waiting until the next threshold of faith.

Fairly useless, I know, but good to know, right?

The AI are on the same turn as you; they just take their turn aftwards. So that AI already had their 15 faith before you did, and founded their pantheon after you failed to found yours.

I understand the "I wish this worked like social policies" feeling, though.

But the point is, we both got to found a pantheon for 15 faith, neither of us had to wait for the next threshold (20).

I wonder if it is only because of getting the city-state faith. It seems like getting the same faith per turn normally would happen quite often among other Civs.

Yeah, I was thinking this as well. Unfortunately, it's not the easiest thing to test!

in my game last night, 3 pantheons were founded on the same turn (none of them by me)

do you know that for sure? the AI might have been at 12-14 faith and maybe also discovered a religious city state or even popped a faith ruin that round.

another useless fact.

While you can choose a new policy with increases gained during the turn, you can't found a pantheon. Early came i came across two religious CS, each giving me faith. Thus i had 12 faith, but couldn't found a pantheon then. Had to wait till next turn (counter was still at 10, no faith generation (turn 12 orso)).

In my game yesterday, I found a religious CS and went over the current pantheon founding limit, but the AI founded a pantheon on his turn and it increased the costs for me.

Yeah, that's why I made the comment about faith not being like culture, had to wait to the next turn to found it.

That is really odd. I thought it would always work the same.

I guess this must be the case. Odd.
