Hello all, I heard somewhere that the ranged units will now be a lot weaker against units and stronger against cities...is this true? Is it fact or rumor?

If true...how helpfull to the ai will this be?? I cant wait..far to often have I placed three canons on hills and held off 10 riflemen with them...instantly if this is true the ai now looks much improved without doing anything...

now I take the same three canons put them on the hill...here comes the ai with there same 10 riflemen, instead of getting mowed down, now they rip into my canons and blast right past them...they look brillant now...

I hope this is true, and I hope it happens how I think it will...
again is this true?

From what we know, the Siege units are getting their Ranged Combat reduced (thus being weaker against units), but are getting a bonus (something like +200%) against cities. So yes, right now it's true.

I don't think so. Cities are made stronger, I think, and siege units now have a 200% bonus against cities. At least the Catapult has it, and those units are made weaker against units.

Edit: Battering ram has +300%, Catapult +200%

Note that this is true of early Siege units, but not other ranged units such as Archery units and ranged Naval units.

It's also not clear whether it will be true of later siege units such as Cannon and Artillery, which unlike Catapults and Trebuchets should be effective against land units in addition to cities.

The Ballista will probably also be more effective against units than the Catapult.
