1. He spelled "potato" "potatoe."
2. He said:

1. You get the screen regardless of whether you win or lose.
2. He was actually very good at running his country's internal policy. It was just that he couldn't stop the Vikings, and at that point, nobody could.

Thing is, poor leaders are seldom remembered in history, so they probably just picked a guy who most people know, and a guy with a funny nickname to be next to last.

Indeed. Though, of course, Ethelred's nickname wasn't 'Unready', it was Unred.

The name Ethelred means, in Old English, 'of noble council' (ethel = noble; red = council). Unred means 'of poor council'. His nickname was a pun on his name, the King 'Noble-council Rubbish-council'.
