Ok, so first off I am not interested in hearing anyone make fun of me for caring about achievements. I just do and I don't know why. :crazyeye:

Anyway I was playing the Mongol scenario the other day to try and beat it on a higher difficulty (Emperor). I got about 50 turns in and realized that I was not going to be able to make it but I decided to keep playing anyway so I could get the Khaaaaaan! achievement for running out of time. I played all the way through 50 more turns of disappointment, only to be given the victory screen at the end. I guess it was because I had the most victory points?

But I didn't get either the achievement for running out of time or the achievement for beating the scenario. What gives? Those turns take forever when you have like 9 Keshiks each with logistics. I am mad. Also, I thought they addressed this issue a patch or two back.

A) You don't get the winning achievements for a time victory, only if you kill the required amount of Civs (this was what they addressed in the last patch).
B) To get Khaaaaaan! you actually have to lose by letting someone else win the Time Victory (it's usually Wu). Just sentry all your units at the beginning of the game, and hit "end turn" 100 times if you want it.

I was frustrated by the same situation.

My fix: reload just before my "win", and then make peace with someone and give them EVERYTHING.

Then you'll run out of time and you won't have the most points. Yeah, it's a bit lame, but honestly, I do like a good achievement every now and again, and I felt I'd done what it had "asked for".

Hope that helps!

I thought they changed it so that you simply could not win without killing all the civs and if you failed to do that you would lose. That would have made more sense.

Making the most sense isn't exactly the developers' forte.

I think it was just a far quicker fix to make the achievement trigger on only one victory condition than it would've been to make the other victory conditions register as losses. It just required changing the achievements rather than touching the scenario.

Side note: I'm wondering if this scenario will get easier or harder with the new patch. The Honor buffs will probably be helpful... But the reduction in happiness bonuses from luxuries and buildings, as well as not having Theocracy to fall back on late game, will make staying above 10 unhappy even more difficult on Deity. Not sure if added :) from walls can counterbalance...

Personally, I have trouble keeping it above 20 unhappy. Unhappiness is the hardest part of the scenario, the military aspect is pretty straightforward and Keshiks are so awesome that they tear apart the civs.
