having joined my first SG recently, I found that it brings my C3C experience to a new level. well, having an aussie in the team helps a lot too, both of us coming from the No 1/2 beer drinking countries in the world :crazyeye:

so how about my own SG? I would like to try another Demigod game, this time

- Romans (since it was rejected the other time)
- 70% pangea, warm, wet, 5 million
- barbs sedentary
- size standard

the usual rules apply (see Lee's rules), try for 24/48

it would be nice to have some experienced players and some like myself who want to move up to deity in future

should we have other restrictions or variations to make it more interesting? i would just be glad to play one straigth up, but others might be bored

so, anyone wants to join? :mischief:

Not a signup, but how about a no reasearch variant?

Pointy stick + Mad trading = .

I'll join.

I'm a emperor player that is trying to climb the ladder to DG (and beyond).

I'll join, too. Just recently won my first single demigod game by diplo. For me, playing it straight will be challenging enough.

ok, great...i'll wait for at least 1 more player to sign up, any preference for the order of the Roster?
agreed to play it straight

will roll a few starts tonight (S'pore time: GMT +8) and post the results for us to decide which start we take
let's hope we get iron for our UU

I would like to sign up if you'll have me.
I can win on Emperor and look for some practice on DG.
But I will be offline for about 8 days over Xmas. If that's OK please slot me in.

well that makes 4 emperor players trying to beat demigod
...being away over x-mas is ok, guess you won't be the only one...i am fine with skips as long as you let us all know, else would like to stick to 24/48...

so, one more player welcome, maybe someone to guide us all...any veteran interested?

ok, i rolled a few starts. believe it or not, the very first one gave me result a

Start c

Team to advise, I will start playing either tonight, more likely tomorrow night after some discussion.
I think Start b is an interesting option, don't forget once we settle we will get sth good since we have no warrior yet and there are plenty of hills for our iron. Let me know your preferences.

Hi, I would like to join you if there is still an open spot as it seems.
I usually play Demigod, but haven't "mastered" it completely. However, this would be my first SG... so that is an interesting challenge alone :)

btw, my favourite spot is #3, #2 also look ok, while I dislike capitals near the sea in pangea if you're not a seafaring civ.

welcome onedreamer :goodjob:

Roster full now, great news :D
btw the roster as stated is ok with you all?

..ok start c or b, what do the rest think? start c actually has 3 silks as far as i can see

actually, I like a best due to the settler factory potential. An absolute must at this level.

Great, am looking forward to this.

I like start C best. I play currently an 'pelago map with no luxes available to me. It's such a pain to keep everyone happy. So the silks would be very wellcome.
Of course I am fine with any start picked by the team. B is a bit more of a challenge I assume as mountains and hills take so long to improve and that might slow down the initial growing phase. But it would make for prime production in the late game.

BTW, roster is fine with me.

ok i just take c and do the first 20 turns, after that 10 turns each, is that alright, i go and play now...can't wait, i will move the settler se to move away from BG...unless strong objection i'll start

Agreed on moving the settler SE, a BG near the river is very welcome  (this means we will take the third dye with another town... ah: they are dyes not silks :) )

ok select c
4000BC - settler moves SE, worker mines BG
3950BC - Rome founded, starts warrior, see some wheat SW, min research set for writing
3700BC - Rome warrior -> warrior
3550BC - Rome warrior -> barracks, worker irrigates down to wheat
3450BC - Rome grows, up lux to 10%
meet Abe, he is up BW, Masonry, Pottery and CB but down Alphabet
can't get 2 techs, so hold off the trade, try to meet a 2nd AI first
3150BC - Rome warrior (duty in Rome) -> settler
3000BC - meet Otto, he is up those 4 techs as well, southern warrior spots purple border
i see the trading opportunity and go for it
Alphabet to Abe for Masonry, BW and 32g
Alphabet and 39g to Otto for Pottery and CB
we have tech parity

now that we have more options, we could change the build in Rome to a granary before building a settler, pls MM if you change

as for the Roster, i feel whoever is free to play the next 10 moves should go ahead, but let us know first, shevek lives in London, so might be able to play or onedreamer as well

Shevek or onedreamer up ??

I will be home and able to pick it up in about 2 hours, if Shevek can't before. I would go for the settler first. Where do you think to build the 2nd town ? I'm thinking SE of the hill, it would take the plains wheat that's being irrigated and borrow it from Rome while the capital is still at 1 citizen (working the BG).

am pretty bad at dotmaps, maybe somebody of the team to come up, there are 2 more immediate spots i can think of, one is to claim the other dye and the other is to claim those 2 more wheats

ok onedreamer, you play first, then we stick with the original roster

Sorry, I meant SW of the hill. That would claim those 2 more wheats (the 2nd after cultural expansion) and with the spare one from Rome that town could roll out settlers while Rome (with barracks) can build military units. I think settling south has the precende because America's border are already there in sight... and we don't want them to box us.

edit: what does "on deck" stand for ?
