Rat-3 and Rat-4 weren't exactly successes, but I am now ready for another try

difficulty for now emperor. If we succeed, DG or deity could be an option next time.

This game is sort of semi-defiant. Rules

1. We may never initiate discussions with AI or start trading. Only if the AI starts to open the dialog box, are we allowed to start trading and haggling.

2. We have the option to boot the AI off our territory, it is not a must, but can be used. However, this means strictly booting only without starting negotiations.

3. We are not allowed to purposely enter enemy territory to get booted in order to start negotiations. If we enter enemy territory and get the boot, we will NOT start negotiations

4. We will never give in to AI demands, but are allowed to make peace, even if it costs us some gold.

5. We are not allowed to use mapstat or open dialog box to check AI's resources etc. I trust members to respect that rules.

6. No embassies established by us ever, however spies are wanted for steals later on

7. Alliances or RoP, trade embargos are allowed.

8. The usual house rules apply, reputation is golden etc.

World size = standard
Pangaea = 60% ocean
Barbs = sendentary
Climate, Temperature, Age = Random
Civ = scientific, but to be decided
Opponents = Random
SGL and cultural linked starts = off
AI aggression = Normal

Interested people should have some AW experience as this can turn into AW easily. Hope some people might be interested. I usually play 24/48

It should be an easier game at Emporer.
the tough part is pangaea, not easy and we lost 2 DG games that way, but we did not play very wisely :(

anyone else up for the challenge?

ok, since we have 3/5 players already, how about the choice of a Civ so I can start that during the weekend?

We face early challenges and should have some nice UU. Which Civ hasn't been played lately? Any suggestions?

well, sci civs are as follows :)
Greece (com)
Korea (com)
Byz (sea)
Russian (exp)
Ottoman (ind)
Persian (ind)
German (mil)
Babylonian (rel)

I haven't played Korea or Babylon for a while. IMHO, Ottomans are too easy @ emporer, ditto Persia.

In fact I have never played Korea in a SG, only for a RaR SG, so Korea seems a good choice, will roll some starts tomorrow morning

We will never give in to AI demands,

lurker's comment:
Interesting idea, but early defiance is what I hate the most. I will simply lurk. If that line was missing...

If you don't play this defiant, then it gets a little too easy, I feel.

Hmm Grams, Greebley and Rat playing an emporer game. Defiant and I don't have to horse around with diplo. Can you say whoop their sorry butts. I will join, but my availiblity will be sporadic.

Conquest. I am always after conquest.
With this roster, I think first random start that can grow to size 4 with more than 5 shields should be accepted.

I would actually prefer completely random start, 1st roll of the dice with the stated parameters :) Only way emporer can be interesting, especially for this group ;)

ok, convinced, first roll unless it is completely unacceptable, I will go for Korea. starting soon

Pre-Turn
had to reject 1st roll which was horrid in a tundra with mountains etc. The game is supposed to be fun and not a complete killer, 2nd start gets us this:
rat054000.jpg

decide to settle on the spot, that way we have covered the lux and have some forrest within reach
we have alphabet, so go for writing, maybe we can trade some later on, warrior first

started to explore the surrounding, north is swamp and jungle infested, spot silks there however, south reveals a goody hut
the goody hut gave us 2 barbs :(

in 3300BC Persia comes into view
send warrior back to cover our city
we are lucky since Persia initiates a deal
rat053300.jpg

we are allowed to haggle, so get pottery and 51g for alphabet, they must have met someone before
due to 51g

in 3150BC Arabia pop into view also from south
rat053150.jpg

we just can't get CB and WC, so have to settle for WC and 9g (all they have) for alphabet

20. 3000BC: Seoul just grew to pop3, will finish rax next turn, we should build a spear and then send the MP warrior north to explore
one explorer is in the east spotted pink Arab border by now.
writing currently takes another 20 turns to complete, growth is pretty slow
since this is a potential AW, we should go for CxxC placement, suggest to settle south next

Preflight check: Stop the worker from mining the wines. Irrigated grass wines gives +3fpt, we should have moved the settler also so we could have been @ +4fpt with 2 irr wines.

T1: 2950BC Rax -> warrior (need to explore more)

T2: 2900BC Exploring warrior continues E.
IBT: warrior -> settler

T3: 2850BC send out rWarrior to the SE to explore

T4: 2800BC

T5: 2750BC

T6: 2710BC Spot an EW.

T7: 2670BC worker finishes Irr and roading the grass wine, moves to mine the plain wine.
IBT: Sumerians contact us, offer CB for Alpha :lol: Get Mas and 4g instead

T8: 2630BC Southern warrior spots green borders
IBT: settler -> archer

T9: 2590BC Settler E, S; NE warrior spots an Indian warrior
