Speaking of Reyna though, has anyone come with a way to make use of the "+$ or Trade Routes that go through here" promotion? I've found it to do nothing. Maybe if you had only one coastal city you could force civs to funnel through there. I mean, that doesn't seem worth it anyhow, granted.

I'm fairly undemanding.
So long as my first city has reasonable prospects for growth and production I'll run with it.
If my first city can grow and build I usually find I can do ok.

could you explain how Reyna provides beakers? Her bonus is to gold, not science.

The golden age dedication "Free Inquiry" turns all gold adjacency bonuses from harbor & CH into science.

It's what makes the whole triangle strategy a good one, IMO. Otherwise it would be meh. With Reyna + Triangle in place, you will get more science from Free Inquiry in just that one city, than a campus surrounded by mountains, plus library & university. It can be very strong.

(But I agree with everyone else saying it's not a good idea for the early game. Better to target a medieval golden age with this strategy)
