Happy birthday, T-hawk! All the best to you, and enjoy your day with family and friends. And when you return to civ3, may the pRNG give you an extra SGL/MGL!
Good point, Justus! I should've thought of that. That's what I get for analyzing numbers after partying earlier that evening.
The Byzantine and Norse games followed that. Lost Roman Secrets would've been the normal full price for Norway to research, and same for Smithing and Seafaring in the Byzantine game. So yes, tech devaluation seems to just work normally, nothing tricky about flavor involved there. So the discount is only when purchasing.
Your line for Smithing when only Norway had it seems to have the usual effect of discounting the purchase to 1/5th to 1/6th of normal cost, then applying the standard x2 factor for a monopoly purchase.
Perhaps there's just an errant operator in the code - where the price is supposed to be multiplied by 5, it gets divided by 5 instead?
In running these SG series I've never wanted to conflict with our own Realms Beyond Epic tournaments.
If anyone in the RBC13 SG series needs to take a day or two delay to finish the RBCiv 39 Epic, I would encourage them to do so, and encourage the game hosts to allow this short delay. (It might even help break the cycle of feasts some games are seeing.)
Thanks for your cooperation, and for your participation in the RB Epic games!
I'd like to make a request that players NOT patch to Conquests 1.20 at least until all your Middle Ages SG games are done. This isn't a decision that should be left to each game sponsor, as so many players are in multiple games and that could lead to versioning nightmares. Best that we keep everything on 1.15 for this run of games, then see what the patch situation looks like as we start the next scenario. 1.20 does not have any urgently needed improvements or fixes.
