The army only has 2 berserks loaded so it can take a third if a boat can hold it. I could not remember so I left it with 2.

I only lost one berserk, but after that I did play it safe.

We may want to send one or two of our boats around to the Mediteranian to be ready to ferry troops.

Hey I had no idea this had started sorry
Who's up then ? :D

Glad to see you, Skyfish - and in fact, you're up :D .
Good progress, getting an Army was the one thing we really needed.
:smoke: on my side, there is no Chartres so far, confused that with Orleans. Sorry for that, 6thGen.
The cities we shoud get are of course Orleans and Angers (guess they didn't offer it because of the Wines there).
French Kings start in Paris, Orleans, and Bordeaux; I think we should stop after Angers, Lyon and Orleans as soon as we can extort HBR. No need to get cities for peace, no VPs that way.
If we kill off France, the Burgundians may get too strong. And then, set sail - what about visiting Rome on the way (and hitting Dorestad the same time), maybe we'll find the Burgundian relic still there?

OOPS Sorry Doc !
I can play after you though.. if thats still needed ;)

Sorry for the delay, I had no net access for some days.

@Skyfish: Your definitely up now. I'll pm you as well ;)

Summary: France completely gased, another Army, and though decisions to make...

Inherited (903AD): Settler founds on spot, no need to walk around during our GA – Viborg, set to Barracks. This pulls in a Forrest for Ribe, shaving off a turn from the Berserk. Paris is set to starve down, and gets our lone Scientist. Rush Spear in Paris.
Enter.
IBT:
Franks reinforce Orleans, 2 Archers move out (1HP off from ZoC).
Paris (Spear) -> Temple

Turn 1: 906AD
Ship our Slaves to our core. Army kills 2 Spears on Orleans, still an Archer shows up. 2/5 Berserk kills 3/3 Archer next to Orleans (save, there’s another 2/3 Archer), and:
Halfdaen.jpg

Hm, what to do? Form another Army, or jump the Palace to Paris? ATM, I couldn’t fill the Army anyway, so Halfdaen runs back to Paris. Rush Spear in Boulonge, needs MP.
IBT:
Next Spear arrives at Orleans.
Boulonge (Spear) -> Spear

Turn 2: 909AD
Capture Lyon. Load Halfdaen in the Army. Orleans: Army kills Spear. Vet Berserk kills 3/3 Archer. Army kills 2/3 Archer. Charles the Bold shows up. Since we have another Elite Berserk in Paris, I decide to form another Army. France knows HBR.
IBT:
Another Archer runs to Orleans.
Vorbasse (Spear) -> Warrior (MP, and can be upgraded to Sword when we have Iron)

Turn 3: 912AD
Orleans: 4/4 Berserk kills Spear. Army kills Archer. 5/5 Berserk kills Charles, no promotions. Orleans is ours. Angers is the new capital – not for long, I hope.
Our GA will end in the interturn. Rush another Spear in Boulonge. Compared to everyone met so far, our score is really impressive – 2245 vs 95 (France), and 60 of that are HBR.
IBT:
GA ends.
Hedeby (Berserk) -> Berserk, Boulonge (Spear) -> Warrior

Turn 4: 915AD
Healing turn.
IBT: Nothing

Turn 5: 918AD
Move forces next to Angers. Army kills Spear. Load 1st Berserk in Haelfdaen’s Army.

Turn 6: 921AD
Angers: Army kills Spear. Elite berserk kills Spear. Army kills Spear, and we have Wines, 3 Slaves, and 5/5 Resistors more.
Sweden is now 2nd in score, they must have slayed some Keshiks.
IBT:
Ribe (Berserk) -> Berserk
Resitance in Orleans and Lyon ends. 2 Frankish Archers show up; no peace right now, we want more Leaders.

Turn 7: 924AD
Kill Archer. Rush Temple in Orleans, needs culture to pull in the Iron. Sweden knows Seafaring (and HBR), but won’t part. Notice we’ve contacted not even Norway so far, send Longship out.
IBT:
Orleans (Temple) -> Barracks. More Franks show up.

Turn 8: 927AD
Joan would give Clermont, HBR and 23gp for peace – with a Frankish Curragh next to Nantes, good to know she’ll talk. Meet Norway – they’re up HBR and Seafaring as well.
Vet berserk slays Archer and promotes.
IBT:
Boulonge (Warrior) -> Spear, Viborg (Barracks) -> Warrior

Turn 9: 930AD
Vet Berserk slays Spear, Elite. Elite Spear slays Archer. Nantes connected.
IBT:
Archer dies to 4/5 Elite Berserk (still 4/5). Resistance in Angers ends.
England starts the HRE!

Turn 10: 933AD
Nothing of interest.
Ok, Diplomacy is interesting – we could get HBR from Sweden for Horses and 9gpt (peanuts!). But: This would force us to peace with Burgundy/ Germany for 20 turns.
We could also get HBR, Clermont (good city, S of Orleans, should have Quarry IIRC) and Ampurias from France for peace – in other words, everything but the capital. Or we could wait until France gives CB, maybe fish another Leader, and extort CB. Also, Burgundy lacks Horses, so maybe we could get CB from them as well – we’ll get informed when they know it, since they’ll start the HRE, and from the score.

Our French lands:

Note the Settler (rush for about 100gp) in Angers is just an idea if we make peace; then we should start the trip to the Mediterranean. Since I parked a Longship in their borders, Poland should contact us in the interturn; maybe Tech prices will drop.

Score (known world only):
Danes 2950
France 420! That means they’re either at war with someone else, or know CB – pretty sure the later, since they were 35 VPs (half a ‘zerk) ahead of England before, and England is at 385 now...

The Save

Good set of turns :)

I'm don't mind peace for 20 turn wih Burgundy and Germany. HBR and CB are obviously needed to get to the next age.

We will have 15 berserks quite soon (13 now). And two armies! We also will have Seafaring in 10 turns for the longboats. As I stated before, I think we should simply focus on the goal of the game and sail to Jersusalem with 15 berserks carrying two relics. The two armies should make us invisible.

At this point, we really need some discussion....

While it may look as if we have a lot of fun options, this isn't true...the Abbassids are ~15 turns away from Ansars! Admittedly I didn't expect that CB is around before turn 30.

Extorting Techs is a minor issue, as well as getting a few more cities from England/ Burgundy/ Germany, or a 3rd Relic.

While Skyfish has in fact a lot of equally good choices here, there's now way around boarding 12 Berserks (or 11 and a Settler), and send them to the Holy Land ASAP.
IMHO we should keep the partially filled Army at home for now; 1 Army and 8 'zerks are 10 attacks/ turn, compared to 8 with 2 Armies.

If we don't have Seafaring in time, even consider a single Curragh for homeland ferrying.

Btw, for the 'minor' issues:
I for one would make the deal with Sweden, extort CB for peace, broker it around – judging from the score, no one else knows it so far, and rush the Settler. Once we have some more Berserks and Boats...the peace treaty with England is about to expire :D ...time for a :viking: visit.
If we happen to get another Leader in a war vs. England (or Burgundy), jump the Palace to Paris, the Marketplace is a striking argument, and the lands are by far better.

You mean 'no way around'? Forgive me for asking. English is not my 1st language and it's tricky for me to see if this is a typing error or not...

If I understand correctly, we are on the same page?

Okay I see it :)
I have no idea what to do at all, except I totally agree to bring the stuff to Jerusalem asap :D

But whats' the plan for the rest ? We should go on hitting everyone (read :England) to get VPs ? Whats Plan B if things go wrong in the Promised lands ?

Hitting England for VP's sounds like a great plan.

Plan B? What's that....? :p

I assume that we have to do a tactical retreat if plan A fails, to secure the relics and come with fresh troops. That's why I like to see a SoD sent to Jerusalem (in plan A).

Guys I am really sorry but I wont be able to take the game this turn : I was counting on playing today but something happened and tomorrow I am leaving for a week holiday with no Internet access :(
Sorry again to let you down but I really have unforeseen circumstances.
