I love turn based strategy, but i also like real time strategy games. Why not make civ4 a real time strategy game?

Production in cities could still be set with setting the workers to the special land types, but the speed of the building changes with it if you do. So lets say you put from grassland to forrest, this will speed up the building time fo the unit you are producing and slow down the growth of the city. Changing the production in a city could be an "on hold" function (it helps if you have experience with real time strategy games to understand this).

The units can be just real time combat. You can still put good defense or attack in it, by expirimenting with a unit's armor and attack points. You can also change normal fast units (2 move instead of 1 per turn) in fast moving units for real time and slower moving units in a real time game.

no real time is bad for this kida game i think..

if you want real time stragy go play SC or something

i don't even like the simulations turns

you drop your men next to the guys city and then he attacks your guys before you get the chance to do anything

I think War Craft 3 is comming out soon though, so they're will be some really good realtime stratgy to sink your teeth into Woke

One word: NO!

I hate real-time games.

There already aren't enough turn-based games on the market these days, it would be terrible to take an icon like civ and turn it into a rts game.

I like some realtime games and they have a right to be here, there will always be someone who will want a quick game of AoE2. But CIV realtime???? No way, there simply is way to much to do for you to get it all done in realtime!!!

no no no no no, no no no no no .......

This is a civ 3 forum. Not a civ 4!

I expected this. there must be some mechanism in the civ fanatics server, that triggers when i make a post. automatically everyone is sent an email to where i posted with recommended attack strategy.

HAHAHAHAHHAHA..oh come on it's not that bad. i get shot down every once in awhile too.

You have to understand THESE ARE RADICAL FANATICS!!!!!! THey will do anything to protect there precious civ. (I'm one too by the way)

But no, it's like when that guy came in here talking about a CIv RPG(?) the whole idea ended up with REALLY ANGRY PEOPLE!

I don't like real time games, i think the computer cheats. Its NOT realistic. On a real battle feild there are many people who can controll whats going on. In those RT games your the only person.

Let's say that you are playing Star Craft Game(which i own) and you are attacking the enemy. Its almost impossible to keep the battle running smoothly and keep production of units up at the base.

I think the computer chaets by doing many of these functions at once, plus at a much faster rate. Its only fair if you play aginst a human player.

ANyway its only normal that your idea got shot down. I knew it would happen..thats why i waitied so long to come in here.

NO !!!!!!!!!!

In fact i think a game like you want does already exist , ever played Age of Empires ?
If not try it . Or maybe wait for Empire Earth which will be an awesome game IMO.
AOE (talking of the latest version) is not really a real time civ but there are many parallels , going through the history with your own tribe , discover technologies , fight battles , develop your economie , explore the world and maybe more. Sounds like all this fits for both games.
