Is it only me that miss the CivII world map where Egyptians started in Egypt and Japan started on the island of Japan?

In CivIII you don't have that as a option, in CivII if I recall correctly you could have the starting locations randomized if you wanted OR the correct locations.

If you'll download Marla Singer's map, it has correct starting positions.

Yes, but - if I am not a moron - Russia will end up in for example Babylon and France in China.

What I want is the French to end up in France and the russians in Russia. But maybe I am missing something...

Well actually you are, :D j/k.
Marla has a nifty little device called the CivPlacement tool made by Gramphos. With that you can place where civs go. Marla's got instructions on how to work it. Its quite simple.
With it you can get the correct starting locations, so French start in France, Indians in India.
:D :)

Just remember that England and Japan starting in their islands have NO chance, and by the time you get to the Industrial Age it will take ten minutes between turns. So be warned.
