As my first act as next term's Minister of the Interior, I'd like to take a look at realigning our two states.
Right now, both the Governor of Micalian's Gate and the Governor of Fort Impervious are vacant positions. Micalian's Gate is too far away from any other city to be put in a state (besides BW, but it can't be in a state), so we should leave it separate. But both New Port City and Fort Impervious are standalone cities that are next to the State of West Licentia.
Since we have so few people running for office, and we've gone through this endless charade of appointing governors to vacant positions (usually people that already have an office), I'm thinking the best thing to do would be cut back on some positions by merging those two cities into a state. If we put both NPC and FI in West Licentia, then it would have 5 cities and Auda Minor would have 3. To balance things out, we could move a city from WL to AM (probably Old Sarai), so they each have 4 cities.
What do you think about these ideas? And should we do it now, or wait until towards the end of the term? One thing we have to deal with is CivGeneral is currently the Governor of NPC, so he must give his approval to have his position dissolved if we are going to move that city into a state. He could always move to MG or become a mayor if he wishes, or we can just wait to realign until elections come up.
Now if we take one or more cities from Germany over the next term, we can always realign the states again. I think that all cities captured from Germany should go into Auda Minor at first. If Auda Minor becomes too big, we can move a city or two back to West Licentia, or we can split it up and make a third state. This would obviously come later but I want to have an idea ahead of time.
Please let me know what you think about these ideas, and we can take them to a vote in a couple of days.
