hey, today I attacked enemy who was in prehistoric era, using composite bowman (my civ is classical now), and seems that realistic siege was not working? it shows that defenses must be below 80%, but my unit was still able to attack city and then enter it and capture with defenses being 95%?

Thanks for reporting and it would possibly help to upload a save that shows this taking place - iirc, there are some times when the adjusted 'shown' total defense isn't exactly what the actual city defense is but some kind of modified city defense amount that isn't exactly the end value that the denial of entry is looking for so there may be a disconnect in what values are being referenced.

Not sure if related, and I never play with that option anyways, but I do recall that cities tend to SHOW different defenses for different attacking (or maybe defending) units.
Like, literally, I can see "50%" and "200%" by simply switching from one attacker unit type to another (on the same turn and in the same stack, so it's all about calculations).
Meaning that these numbers aren't "absolute" - and that it could be silently affecting how the actual attacks work.
No idea, though.

It's related and also may have something to do with gunpowder, which I'd love to remove as an aspect of city defense in the way it was originally done.

I know that point, but I think it was even earlier.
Gunpowder is quite far up the tech tree, I rarely play a game long enough to reach it.
Are you sure that ALL defensive buildings only react to gunpowder and not something earlier or more unit-type related?
Or maybe I did play past gunpowder and didn't exactly pay attention to that, lol.
But I'd rather like you to check for other options as well, ya know, just in case.

Yeah I've seen some strangeness earlier (I think) that I couldn't figure out either. I will probably sort it out at some point.

thanks for answers, I am trying to upload save but I can't:D:D:D where do I find it on my computer?

one another question, any way to suppress these popups? they are recurring like every 20-30 turns for same tiles (only in case of water tiles improvements, on land is okay)

edit: seems that it was solved by clicking "bother me another time", popups don't appear anymore
