I am looking into a Flight Sim game. With so many versions, I am not sure what to look into.

Mainly the criteria that I am looking for is ease of customization of aircraft paint jobs (Just with Microsoft Train Simulator) plus the flight sim would also be able to import older shapes from previous versions.

It must be able to run in windowed mode or widescreen (1920x1200) friendly and is easy on the processor and ram (I have a 2GHz CPU and 1GB of RAM)

The only good one I've heard is Microsoft Flight Simulator X

I'm assuming you're after civilian flight sims, which I'm not much of an expert in. Microsoft Flight Simulator is probably the best one, as its very moddable, has a large community devoted to it, and there are dozens of add-ons available to it.

Microsoft Flight Simulator X might be too hardware-intensive though, but there is a demo available for you to try out. I have Flight Simulator 2004, which is the previous version, and will run definitely run a lot smoother.

I definitely recommend you try one of them CG :)

I would highly suggest X-Plane at http://www.x-plane.com/ as the flight dynamics in-game are very realistic and is very moddable too. Has its own plane maker program and scenery designer inside. Was easy enough for me to replicate Hong Kong's coastline and urban areas.

X-Plane - Decent

Flight Simulator X - You need a monster of a computer for this game, but if you have the computer for it, go for it.

Flight Simulator 9 (2004) - The best for a regular computer I believe, many add-ons and forums where you can go to.
