ok i need two CDs to by im into emo-punk and some punk (just not the fake pop-punk)

something like Dashboard Confessional, The Ataris, Thursday, Etc.

also maybe some indie stuff like the White Stripes or the Dirtbombs

thx n advance

The White Stripes aren't exactly indie anymore, but they are still good.

Look into the Black Keys. They're kinda like the White Stripes, but more blues.

If you want emo/punk, get Weezer's first album, the Blue Album (its self-titled, but the blue one).

I dunno about the Dirtbombs, I haven't heard them, but they're friends of the White Stripes (IIRC) so they can't be all bad. (Actually the other band on the White Stripes label sucks alot  ).

"Get Free" was a good song, do they have other good ones?

My cousin says that Jet's CD Get Born is amazing, I'm giving it a listen soon.

1) Bowling for Soup (new one forget the name)
2) Fountains of Wayne: Welcome Interstate Managers
3) Dave Matthews Band: Busted Stuff, Crash (really anyone).

PUNK?

Try the Damned or the Sex Pistols. :goodjob:

All this bubblegum punk nowadays makes me sick.

Try Saves the Day: stay what you are. I had not listened to mine for a while and forgot how much I liked it.

The new blink 182 cd is pretty good. It's more serious than their other albums.

I have a CD of Brand New songs, they're pretty good. They're punk, but they stray off it often on their most recent CD, "Deja Entendu".

If you listen to the radio you've probably heard "The Quiet Things that No One Ever Knows" by them.

I second that. I just picked it up, and it is very good. A little different than their other albums....;)

Hopefully it's different in that it's not sell-out pop punk anymore.

If you like punk look into The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Operation Ivy, Rancid, Minor Threat, and/or Against Me.

It is similar to the Boxcar Racer cd.

Different how? Being good?

I had the 'pleasure' of hearing it and the best song is sung by Robert Smith of the Cure. Yes, on a Blink cd.

The Sex Pistols only had one album! But then again, it was a truly awesome one! :goodjob:

depends what you're after.

I'd suggest Goldfinger for punky/emo stuff. Best album is probably Stomping Ground.

I've also been enjoying Less Than Jake's "Anthem" recently. which is emo with brass kinda stuff. wouldn't call it ska tho.

Also The Living End are an excellent punk band. They have a new album "Modern Artillery" which is good, but their first album is great. Prisoner of Society was an excellent song

I got Jet's album too. It's good, but not a standout.

Oh and try to find stuff by Area 7. They have some very good work :)

BTW: CG - which is your favourite white stripes album? I figure it's past time that i got some of their stuff :)

Down By Law is not popular enough. They deserve more credit because they are different. They are the only punk band with clearly anti-left lyrics IMO ("No Equalizer", "Ivory Girl", "1944"). They also have some rather nice emotional (non-political) songs like "500 miles".

DBL :goodjob:
