This game is full.

Team assignments will be semi-random. There will be four teams. Each will consist of 2 human players and one random AI, for a total of 8 humans and four AIs. The AI diff will be set to Noble.

Checks to be set:
Always peace
No cheating

Victory conditions available:
Time
Diplomacy

Speed:
Quick

Map:
Continents: Each team to its own continent.
Standard or large size (haven't decided yet, maybe I'll put it up to a vote.

Basically the challenge is to see which team can create the best island empire. The two players on each team will have to be able to work together and with their random AI to keep as high a score as they can until the time limit. The diplomacy option is available so that the other players can decide to essentially elect a winner if someone is in an overwhelming lead. (as opposed to quitting because you are so far behind in the late-game that you don't think you have a chance anymore).

The speed is increased because the players do not have to worry about combat (except with barbarians in the early game) so the normal disadvantages of a quick game (units going obsolete before you can use them) is not an issue, and it allows the game to progress at a nice clip (hopefully making up for the high number of players).

I think this sounds like a fun variant. If you think so too, please join up.

Post in the thread with your desired leader name, your disguised e-mail address, your GMT adjustment, and a few preferred civs.

Not a problem, as long as you're willing to commit to the time investment that it requires.

Test out the PBEM feature to make sure that you can get it to work. If you need help with it, shoot me a PM.

Then, post the necissary info in this thread to join the game.

Hmm.. I might have to skip this one after all. We started a multiplayer game with a couple of friends today, and that will probably be taking a lot of my time.

Could someone clarify PBEM for me a bit? E.G. about the time commitment. I was under the impression that PBEM was extremely slow.. like one turn per day..? That doesn't really require a lot of commitment IMO :) And then the basic function of this game type: does it work so that one player makes his turn, then saves the game and sends the save file to the next player using his e-mail address and so on..? Sounds a bit complicated..

And what information does the player who starts the game need from other players? E-mail address and SMTP? ...and can a hotmail address be used? I think my university e-mail only sports an IMAP-server..

Yes, the time commitment is about one turn per day. Some people cannot handle that.

PBEM is Play by E-mail. Each person takes his/her turn them passes it on. All you need is an e-mail address, it doesn't have to support anything else, the player before you will just e-mail the save game to you, then you open it. The in-game e-mail function still doesn't work for everyone, so we don't use it.

I'm interested :)

Hi. Count me in for the economic game.

Leaders: Queen Victoria, Ghandi.
Time zone: GMT+2
email: aviv /DOT/ hurvitz /AT/ gmail /DOT/ com

I can play in 24h for sure, most days I can play one in the morning and one at night.

Just an idea I had - each team-member has the same pwd, that way we can have team-mates fill in for others if the need arises.

I would like to take part. However I've never tried PBemail before. I wouldn't want to spoil it for others by getting lost. Also is time of day going to be critical. I'm in the UK GMT +0

If you've never played PBEM before, I would only suggest that you try the feature to see if it works before you join a game, since some people have issues with it.

Your GMT adjustment is only important for determining the best turn order for the players.

Hi

Had a shot at playing with my self by email, so to speak, using two different aol logins. Worked Ok. So if there is a place left count me in:)
