Reform the RPG

Wow! way to many historical inacuracies to count!!!
first of, ancient times where not, it any way boring!! Has everyone forgotten the rise and fall of Babylon, Egypt, the greeks, the roman empire!, Caesar, Alexander the Great, Herodotus, Cleopatra, Anaximandro, Plato, Hanibal, the greek-barbaric way of thought, the rise of the city-state, republics, commerce. all of our institutions were born in ancient times...and that's just in Europe! what about the Orient?!
We are in the middle ages in the RPG basically beacuse of the romanticied ideas most people have of the period, not beacuse they were more exciting, ...the middle ages sucked!!
And I agree with CT, stock exchanges are boring and complicated, and they didn't come until later in the Renasance, bartering was still used in the middle ages.
And no, land was not given to the feudal lords by the king, the king had no real power. He was in the throne beacuse the feudal lords let him, they controlled the production of the land. It is not until the lattle middle ages-early renasance that the king began to control the land and would ultimatly from proto-states. And that only happened in Spain, England and France. Germany and Italy didn't appear as independent states until much later on.
One thing is to have an middle ages-based-rpg and quite another is to have an rpg that follows (ie, is subjugated to) the demogame.

Hannibal...I saw that movie. I thought Sir Anthony Hopkins was good, but the story was way over the top.

Oh...you meant Hanibal....sorry!

If I may be heard, I have one comment in defense of the RPG that I am surprised hasn't been mentioned yet:

The concept of DEMOCRACY in 1075bc is flawed, at least to the level which it is practiced here. Nominations, polling the electorate, countless checks and balances were all instituted well after the age of chivalry. Yet that is what makes the Demogame fun. So please allow the RPGer's their fun, especially since so much work was put into it. I myself am working the RPG into my Demogame experience by getting to know the townspeople before I choose to enter the political forum. But I watch the actions of our leaders with much interest and will continue to do so. In my opinion, both games are a success due to a small tweaking of the rules. I'm sorry, what I meant to say was:

fire bad....critter yummy
