Reform the RPG

Maybe your right again. Maybe I have spent too much valuable time on the RPG to see it trashed. But then again maybe you care a little bit too much, too.

a possibility but i want to see the rpg stick with the game, not advance itself beyond its years and i wont rpg'ers to do the same

well, i agree the idea of currency, banking, and the stock market (also GM's Future weapons shop) are way ahead of thier times. But, according to your logic, wouldn't the whole RPG be absurd if it started before we discovered writing and even alphabet? What I"m getting at is that some stuff is neccessary for the RPG to function, we don't need some of this stuff (ie. stocks) but it is already in place so there is no sense in taking it away. Hopefully you could understand some of my ramblings... :D

i understand and agree but why was there a need to bring them into the game in the first place?

My opinion is that we should stall technological growth in the RPG from this point on. We will catch up to the feudal period pretty quickly, which is where most of the RPG is at this point. The stocks on the other hand...well, stock markets just give me a headache, so I haven't even read most of them other than skimming the threads looking for flame wars.;)

Fine by me. We are in a good spot to stall the RPG technical growth.

Now we should really get this discussion at the RPG-forum in the thread already there. As said, at the moment we discuss EXACTLY that point at the rpg.

We have to following proposal up:
1) only technology which is know by us or a knows civ is allowed
2) technology not know by us is punished with much less revenue when sold
(very rough, but the details seem to still be needing workout)

we wont delete the things we have now, but stall techs, like you proposed.

for example catalpults :-) presuming my proposal (to be defined more):
they could be build (i think our neighbors know mathematics?).
but the revenue will be VERY low (10%, instead of 80%). This way the prices will be higher. Also, as soon as we ourselves discover mathematics, the prices will be cut down to 10% of the previous sales-price.
now if catapults are sold now for 1000gold each, the seller woud get only 100gold each as profit. as soon as the fanatikans know mathematics, he has to drop the sales price to 100gold, and get 80gold revenue.
This way the seller is forced to use VERY high prices for imported goods.

Same would apply to resources we dont own.
The problem with that would be the tracking.
Now please(!) cary this discussion to the rpg forum, as many more people would participate in it then.

And we should have a discussion for each now rule-proposal. Not for all proposals in one thread (this is the stupid way we started it at the rpg-forum at the moment, and thats also propably the reason why discussion stalled :-))

nice a subtle way to try and move the thread and its ideas from the citizens forums. I Posted it here for a reason to get you rpg a holics out of the rpg and back into the demogame

you should have said that. but i think there i will get more participation. and of course more participation of the people who are effected by it :-)
anyways, see my sig :-) and of course you were good to post it as rpg announcement.

@the mods:
cant we have REALLY improtant discussions and polls as announcement accross all of our forums?

i was way ahead of you withn my posts about the discussion in the rpg announcemnts thread :)

get them out of the game, as donsig was careful to point out the 3 subfora of the demogame combined do not come close to the post count of the entire rpg. personally i think thats sad when a supplement to the demogame is doing better than the actual game

well, in fact 16919>2*8342.
meaning the total postcount is MORE than double the rpg postcount. which means the rpg takes less than 50% of the posts of the demogame :-P

And if you look why, you will notice MANY small posts. Like Bids in auctions etc. So no need to try to find excuses for the poor performance of the DG2.

hey dont blame me blame the comments said by donsig, after all he was saying the rpg had more posts but dis dont tell me you counted them all ;). The Rpg is just as much too blame for lack of participation as say the lack of leadership from leaders and the inability to comprimise on issues. by doing that we have alllowed political parties in a way. Group A is for this issue and wont budge Group B is for another issue and wont budge and nothing gets done. Instead of pointing out the good of the rpg and me pointing out the bad, lets form a nuetral ground to comprimise on reform of the rpg.

Fionn: I even think we comply on the bad things. I already had pming with shaitan about those topics and what to do better next time :-P

And yes, i counted them all.
(well, in fact i let the forum-sw do it for me)

thing is we cant be moving as slow as the demogame in the last chat we only had one turn meaning we didnt reaserch anything and in the first term and some of thsi term it has eben the same we have had many little turn chats resulting in nothing being done so not many people want to wait 2 months before they can ride a horse
