Regular Grassland: Irrigate or Mine?

Getting to a different government won't delay the golden age. It's just in a different government you won't suffer the tile penalty of despot so you can make better use of the golden age. After you get iron working (for your immortals), then bee-lining for Monarchy, switching to that government, THEN attacking with your immortals would be a good plan.

yes, if you can get a scientific wonder and an industrious wonder, that would also trigger a golden age for Persia. If a wonder matches both traits you have a *chance* of getting a golden age from that 1 wonder.

Even though this isn't on topic anymore, ;) I'll throw my 2 cents in. I typically try to time my GAs when I have an early UU (samurais included). If I'm going for a certain victory, I'll aim for that tech. IE, for culture, I'd am for lit., and monothesim/theology. For conquest, I may just make sure my top cities have barracks and are producting the UU, or units that I will soon upgrade when the time comes. (i.e., horses to knights).

I can't be bothered to read the whole post, so apols. if I'm repeating anything.

Whether to mine or irrigate depends on the city. If there are lots of hills, then irrigate like crazy to compensate. If it's all grassland, mine and irrigate. If it's mostly plains irrigate mostly. I tend to irrigate shielded grasslands.

Of course, whilst in depotism, mine.

My strategy...
- game or normal grassland: irrigate
- cattle or shielded grassland: mine
