Not much to say, just continue our plan (research wheel, build great wall)

I've got the save but won't be able to play until Thursday. Tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov 3) is an election day in Texas; I'm an election judge and I will be "judging" for all the time the polls are open (7am to 7pm), plus setup and takedown. Tonight is prep for all of that and Wednesday evening is church, which in turn means I won't be home until 9pm or so Wednesday.

I'm open for a swap with someone.

Sorry had a really busy weekend/ week. Will look at this tomorrow. Looks a strong starting location. Need to read up on the rounds played so far.

A quick point. Stone, wheel, Great Wall. We will look silly if the Ai beat us to it!!

Lets get this spy economy rolling. We dont want to be waiting. We can rex quickly once we have GW. GW will also halt any barb issues.

I'll not be able to play untill thursday due to me going to England (London)

Sorry I wasn't able to play, So I don't know where I stand on the list now, can someon post the update list?

Turn 46: I swap the corn plot with stone

Turn 49: The warrior is completed, I fortify him in the city and start a scout

Turn 50: I find Tokugawas land

f_16lqberx5p1m_53ac5bd.jpg

Turn 53: The workers complete the farm, I send them to chop the hill East of Cahokia.
The scout is build aswell, I send him off to scout the East and start the great wall

Turn 54: Cahokia grows to size 3, I set the city to production rather than growth because growing isn't so yieldy until more improvements are built.
The scouting warrior kills a lion and I send him to a nearby hill to heal

Turn 56: Scout kills wolves

Turn 57: The scouting warrior gets killed, I complete 'the wheel' And start researching Animal Husbandery (Maybe we reveal some horses, although probably not in our capital since we have already 5 resources there. And we can get writing after that)
The workers start building a road to connect the stone.

Turn 58: Swith city plots to growth because hammers are more efficient when we have stone (next turn)

Turn 59: Road complete, I set the workers back to what they were doing before building the road (chopping the hill east of Cahokia)

Turn 60: Hinduism arrives in our lands. I do not adopt, because we don't need the happiness right now anyway and I think its better to wait until we see the whole religious situation (honestly I just didn't want to deal with the revolt during my set).

Turn 61: The scout kills again a hord of wolves

Turn 65: We meet Shaka (high unit prob, but not so aggressive, so be nice to him!)
The Capital grows to size 4

Turn 67: The Great Wall completes, I start a dog warrior and I suggest to build a settler after him to start some REX'ing.

I end my set

Our lands:

Tokugawa is in the SE, and Ragnar in the S so Shaka will probably be far in the East

If we get a settler at a time if we get a settler rice/stone (I'm kicking myself for using the lock mmodified Assets, miss BUG already:hammer2:)

Anyway, we need to discuss city sites. The cow/copper To this south, rice/stone 1S of rice the silk will overlap, cow/phant to the E to block Toku. Some depends on horses location.

Shaka:crazyeye: it's not a game without a crazy AI in it.

I know this is the worst dotmap ever (ok maybe not, but its still very bad), This is because:
1) I'm not really in the mood of thinking
2) I really can't predict were those bordes are gonna be until I've drawed them, and then it is to late (They invented a tool for this called bug, but ...)

So why do I post this? Because now we can discuss (like white dot, 3E) instead of saying: 12S,9E of Cahokac (wich is more difficult)

(I'm kicking myself for using the lock mmodified Assets, miss BUG already:hammer2:)
Don't kick yourself. I don't mind playing without BUG. It is a big help, but can also become a big crutch, if you let it do all your thinking for you.

I'll look at the game when I get home.

I'm still learning my way around in Civ 4 BtS. I've done several SGs in Civ III and one thing I learned to do was create a strategy post before I played any turns. This helped me to focus on the game at hand and it gave the rest of the team a chance to see that I was planning to do what the team wanted done.

(One big difference for me is that in Civ III I could Alt+Tab between the game and Notepad with no game slowdown. BtS hides when I switch back and forth, which makes the entire process longer. One second to minimize and then about five seconds to reload/repaint the screen again when I get back to it. I know, I know it is minor thing and doesn't affect anything about how the game is played but I still find it irritating! I guess I just becoming crabby and :old:.)

International
We are at peace with Ragnar of the Vikings (Cautious).
We are at peace with Shaka of the Zulu (Cautious).
We are at peace with Tokugawa of Japan (Cautious).

Strategy Plan
Connecting resources is very different from what I am used to. It takes more than just a road in a tile to make use of a resource. For several, the right tech must be known also, which in turn allows the right improvement to be made in the tile in order to make use of the resource. But I'm still unclear if we have to build a road in the tile to get the benefit of any resources.

After we learn Animal Husbandry, my initial thought would be to start learning Horseback Riding. Not sure if that is the best tech to learn, given our variant, so feel free to correct me on that.

We need more cities if we don't want the AI to spam us out. Japan has at least two cities up; can't tell about the others. After we build this first Dog Warrior, we need a settler quickly, so that would be my next build.

After we finish the mine 1E of Cahokia I think the next task would be to road to our new city site, unless we need to road the Wines/Silks first.

I won't be able to play until Friday evening or Saturday morning.

Horse backriding would be only usefull if there are horses :p, so we'll have to wait to see that. About roads: You need a road from the resource to a city to have it connected to that city, and you need a road between citys to connect them. Exeption: A river also connects cities or resources (but you have to connect the resource to the city first). The river functions as a road only throug friendly teritory before sailing, and also trough neutral teritory after sailing (same with the coast). And we don't need to road the wines/silk, until we've improved them (and we need monarchy/clalendar for that, so that won't happen so soon. And the clam is connected: a water resource is always immediatly connected to the city. And we don't need to connected the corn, so fast, because we have enough healthyness

I agree about spamming a settler after the dog warrior. Dog warriors are enough to protect against barbs, so we won't need to rush to get copper/iron/horses. Maybe after the settler a library (if you go for writing) or worker or even a settler (I wouldn't go for that)
As for techs: After animal husbandery, I would maybe go for writing if there are no horses, and for horseback riding if there are (actually i would still go for writing but thats your choice).
