The AI in civ games is could be improved. Somewhat predictable, and requires bonuses to stay competitive.

The proposal is to release an Artifiical Intelligence Standard Development Kit to make it painless for someone to write their own AI.

To make it easy to add someones AI to a civilization. So 1 civ could be running a custom AI, the rest can be vanilla.

To sponsor AI tournaments, to replay the games on the web.

emphasis is mine. well  -> writing an ai is very complicated.

however your idea of releasing ai sdk is sound. it's somewhat similar to what c-evo has. it's ai is a dll with an open interface. so that anyone with decent programming and ai skills can code up their own ai. you can even configure the ai's to use different ai dlls in a game.

overall good ideas!
