I have noticed two significant problems regarding religions when using the Acient Era Advanced Start Option.

1) The AI never seems tofound any religions at all. In every game I've done this in so far (at leat ten) I have founded every religion I have purchased thge found technology for.

2) My capital have never founded a religion, EVER!!! Even when my other two cities have found 2 or 3 of them each.

edit: It might be that the AI is not purchasing any technologies under the advanced start option though, as I could trade just about any tech I had purchased to pretty much everyone CIV I had encounterd. REally takes the fun out of the game, when you start so much more advanced then the AI.

2) this is by design, your capital will never found a religion unless it is your only city

1),... well it depends on whther or not the technology is worthwhile compared to the other options. as more cities/pop allows you to get more commerce to begin with. (it may be a smart AI move... of course then that means the costs should be rebalanced)

1) It seems rather funny after all , that in a normal game, if the AI can it will grab an early religion.

2) That seems rather stupid. In regular games, I have had my capital found a religion plenty of times, when I have more then one city.

In the regular game, I'm pretty sure if you only have 2 cities, the game will prioritize founding a religion in the city that does not already have one. So the second city would get hit first, then the capital.

Then again, in the regular game if you found one of the first 2 religions, you will almost always have ONLY your capital at that point, and no other cities.

Overall, I agree that religion founding with advanced starts is weird and rather imbalanced compared to the normal game. I've never been able to found both early religions even on Noble or Monarch, much less Emperor that I now normally play at.
