Wouldn't it be more logical that the founder of the religion should always get it in new cities regardless of what the majority religion is?

I just got converted by Saladin (well, didn't think well that I shouldn't bother with a religion with him as a neighbor), and I don't see a way to get it back now (and I had Tithe, the production belief and colonization, so I kinda wouldn't mind to convert back somehow...)

Would not work well with current mechanics that is basically once a religion is dead it is dead, so having religious colonization be a get out of jail card would not be a good thing.

Not quite dead though. Looks like I managed to pull it back by declaring a war and condemning a couple of his apostles left on my territory... Though the emergency is still in progress.

I always get messed up by this. I found a religion, adopt Religious Colonization as one of my starting beliefs, and then found a city only to realize it's not working because my religion isn't in the majority of my cities yet. Or I do remember and need to pause my expansion while I build up enough faith to convert the majority of my existing cities. On the other hand, it's always nice when civs I've converted found cities of my religion.

In Civ VII, I'd like to see Settlers have a religion (you can choose any of the religions in the city that has at least one pop, and they remove one pop of that religion unless you have an ability that keeps settlers from removing pops), but that's a topic for another thread (and forum).

Oh religious colonization is amazing, but it won't resurrect dead religions unfortunately.

DID YOU KNOW HOWEVER that it also works on other civilizations? If you pick it up as your first tenet (make sure you have Holy Sites in over half of your cities) and quickly spread it to a neighbour with 2-3 missionaries, they will actually spread your religion each time they settle a city. Even if they have founded another religion themselves. It is such delightful cheese.

Probably WHY it has the rule it has. Religious Colonization is not a Founder belief it is an Enhancer and it is one of the few ones that affect OTHER players who follow it.
