Now, DZ and I have been talking about this one for awhile now. Should we relocate New PDX?

New PDX has a library, University and a barracks. It CANNOT grow past size 5, where it is now.

Inclosed is a diagram showing where it could go. I believe "1" is the best spot.

Discuss!

IMO, New PDX should be moved to the location where it can Max its food intake and thus would make it grow past 5 (And would make DZ happy ;) )

Thanks for holding my happiness in such high regard, CG! :D

My choices would be 1 or 2.....

4 would have the new city still crowding Eklektochtitlan.
3 is too far out, I think.

Basically, if Site 1 crowds the Highlands, my vote would be for Site 2. If Site 2 leaves unworked tiles between the Highlands and New New PDX, I would choose Site 1. Hope that makes sense. I will need to look at the save. :)

Understandable, Octavian, but the University shouldn't have been built there in the first place.

Anyway, it seems like a waste to let 7 to 11 sea squares never be used for a thriving harbor town. A city on site 1 or 2 would be able to get up to a Size 17-20 and use most of its hills in the process. In its current state, New PDX will stay at Size 5 until the end of time.

OK, I'll support a moving, if and only if the name of the city remains the same. PDX was a great city from the original Democracy Game, reknowned as 'The Happiest Place on Earth.'

You get all your tier 1 tiles unless they are tier 1 tiles for another Civ's city. There are 4 Incense in the area. Locations 1,2,and 4 will recoup all Incense when the new city is placed. You WILL loose 3 of the Incense for 1 turn. That is they will dis-connect when the city is depopped, and re-connect when the new city is founded at locations 1,2, or 4. If location 3 is selected, 1 of the Incense will re-connect on founding and the other two will have to wait until the new city has accumulated 10 notes (of culture)

You now have 6 incense. 2 are exported. (Greece exp 1290 and Iroquois exp 1310). This leaves 4 local. You could loose up to 3 Incense and still supply your commitments and have leftover for your own civ provided no additional deals are struck until the city is moved.

Pack up the kids ma'am, the city is moving!.. ahem..you got my vote :)

No, Site 2. Site 2 give us the most free plains. Site 1 crowds into Penguin. But, since it has culture, I think we should live with our mistake and learn better city planning next game. I even told everyone that it wouldn't grow past size 5-7 when we first placed it.

Here's a picture of each site. Each one shows the tile usage for the city if we place it in that site. I recommend site 2, as it gives us the most potential growth. (that's IF we do move it)

I know that. The IMG tags are touchy.

Another thing - The city has mounds of corruption (atleast 70-80%). It's not worth it to build a settler. It will still have corruption.

I would definately like to see the original discussions on the city placement of New PDX or a link to them. I think everyone wanted to go for the gold, even though it was known then that the city would not grow large enough. I say leave it where it is. It would be such a waste to lose all the work that been put into the city. We have to learn to live with our mistakes.
