New Community Survey

Done it. I have contributed the very specific point, that I find the civ-selection menu in MP-lobbies almost unusable

I wrote that the lack of variety in legacy paths and how to complete them is what hampers replayability. And that I would like better integrated crises to make the game more engaging and increase urgency. I rated the recent patch very high, as the way the items are phrased and non-granular answer options kind of force you to that. I do think that it is a great patch, but the survey might make it look like a 10/10.

And of course, I added that I'd like to see a different religion system, hotseat, and more civs.

I'm curious to see whether some people explicitly call for a 4th age to be added. And I'm wondering if we'll see a summary of the survey results.

Was the survey not announced in-game at least? It seems like the survey can only result in a skewed result this way. I imagine people that joined their discord is a bit more "yes"-men than the average player. Maybe I'm wrong.
As previously written, there are different types of surveys to get different information. This survey was about changes Firaxis is making and 1.2.5 in particular. Adding opinions of those who haven't played the game would skew this particular survey, not the other way around.

Related to 1.2.5, sure. Overall, however, understanding why people will not buy the game when they have spent thousands of hours on previous iterations is valuable.

you think they don't know that already?

I'm also pretty sure they also know they can't realistically make changes to make those people buy civ7.

you want a survey for civ8, this one isn't.

That’s all well and good. But, considering that they have a sales problem, getting the opinions of fans who refuse to buy Civ 7 would also be valuable.
Just out of curiosity, how substantially different is your reason from "I don't like the civ switching", "I don't like that any leader can lead any civ" or "I heard the launch UI was a mess"? How far removed is your feedback from "I will not buy the game until I can pick one civilization and play the whole game with it"?

I've mentioned everything. I asked for more civilizations, more legacy paths, more eras, more buildings, more depth in diplomacy and religion. I also asked for a return of loyalty so that we can peacefully steal tiles or even cities from rivals, especially from the most foolish ones who build cities close to our borders. 😂

There are rocks/arrows/bolts/bullets/missiles/nuclear bombs for that last problem though!

Good set of more!

It's interesting that they are even doing a survey like this, I don't recall them ever doing one for previous Civ games after launch.

I think it's a subtle acknowledgement the game has massive problems still.

The survey doesn't address people that haven't bought it / refuse to buy it with current design configuration. If you want to sell more of the game wouldn't you want to hear from people who haven't bought it and why they aren't buying it? unless they don't want to hear those answers.

Fairly sure there has been one before, but also... things have changed, they have a Discord server now, and a Carousel that they can push things through, so it's likely they realised "oh wwait, we CAN reach things".

They've definitely done surveys before. Famously, there was one preceding Civ 6's New Frontiers Pass, and several others dating as far back as Civ 5.

In my responses, I was positive to the steps taken in 1.25. I was critical of the features that should have been included. I was very critical of the religious game, how shallow it is compared to VI. War resolution is also very poor. There should be further options, not just a city or 2 swapped. Money, Influence, etc. should be included. I too asked for more leaders and Civs. ALso asked for more legacy paths. I also pointed out several QOL mods, that have readily available information in game, placed in a more appropriate location, so that us as gamers can make an informed decision. Yes 1.25 made steps in this direction, but ore is needed.

I filled out their survey. My main comment was essentially this: "After 30+ years with this series you broke my Civ heart."

They can do with that feedback as they wish.

Man, I started my survey with plenty of free time and was answering as thoughtfully as possible. Then when I got to the written part toward the end, something came up and my wife was waiting for me to finish so we could leave. So I had to briefly add quick thoughts to my feedback. The past couple days have been "Aw, I should have mentioned this" or "Dang, I really should have brought up that" I am sure there was a character limit but I did mention most of my biggest grievances.

I know I brought up legacies and diplomacy. I forgot to mention trade. I think I brought up religion. I forget what all I mentioned past that. I typed it all out in like 3 minutes. My response was slightly positive overall though.
