Being a big fan of the Civ series from the first game I am now getting a bit annoyed by developer behaviour. Despite Civ 6 being a great game it has a few flaws that could have been fixed by modders but the devs aren't exactly helping.

Civ 6 was supposed to be the most modder friendly game in the series according to the release information. This hasn't really been the case.

Buying NFP should really have been a no-brainer but I have held off purchase and will not pre-order further installments of the game. I think more players should act in the way that really sends a message to the devs.

(Probably I will buy all the stuff eventually anyway but decreasing the hype and praise could be signal enough)

I've made over 100 mods for Civ 6 since release and I began with absolutely no experience.

In many ways Civ 6 IS the most modder friendly. You're probably referring to the dll remaining unreleased which is only a fraction of the picture. The release of the dll is not some panacea to "fix" the game, but that's another story.

The new modifier system they implemented is extremely flexible and easier for new people to use than Lua. Also, compared with Civ 5, things in general are a lot less frustratingly hardcoded. Can't forget the new asset editor which allows people to create new game units and models with existing assets (Civ 5 never had such a feature; 3d assets are a relative rarity). And completely forget about making new natural wonders in civ 5.

Of course there are shortcomings to the modding tools but it gets tiresome to hear this fake point that "civ 6 isn't modder friendly!" get parroted over and over by people who don't make mods...The game is clearly developed with modding in mind; for example, mods are fully supported in multiplayer and others can automatically download your mod list when joining your game.

Feel free to not buy NFP. That's your prerogative and right as a consumer. On the other hand I have purchased it and I'm greatly enjoying all the new content and hope they continue down this path. Nothing I've ever bought has given me as many hours of entertainment per dollar spent as Civ 6.
