...angry citizens, or happy ones, would march across the screen in disgust, rioting, or parading in the original Civilization?

...the AI would march across your entire country to target your least defended city?

...trekking across massive contintents and oceans to land those plump, juicy, and lucrative trade routes with the caravans?

...buying other civs cities (through revolt)?

Even though I don't watch it much now, I think it was a great idea to include the original opening movie in Civ 4.

Anyone else have any nostalgic input?

Anyone besides me still have the original boxed version of Civ?
 
Remember when.... you went for space race victory. And only at the very end did you find out you had NO aluminum on your continent.

Note to self. Aluminum = REQUIREMENT for all space ship parts.

EDIT: I see what you mean though after re-reading your post. Only 4 years to shave off (1700 is 17th century).
