What about replacing the luxuryslider with a slider depended of the current government?
In democracy it would still be a luxuryslider, but in fascism it could be a propagandaslider that would increase the nationalistic fervor(?) which would decrease unhappyness less than luxury but in the same time be more efficent against war weariness.
The communisticslider could be a forcelaborslider that would increase production but limit growth, and in monarky maybe you could use the slider to increase control which decrease some unhappyness and increase religious fervor.
I haven't come up with anything in feudalism yet.

Any thoughts?

Don't like it...at all.

Every government has ways of making people feel happier with their situation, whether it be luxuries, propaganda, or something else. Renaming the slider for identical functions is silly. Changing the function for each government is counterproductive.

For example, fascism has no war weariness. And the slider should fight war weariness?

Communists don't have any way to make their people happy? Or they just are? :shakehead:

Hate it, hate it, hate it.

Maybe you're right but different governments usually fight unhappyness differently, this system would make each government more unique and maybe more realworldlike.

thanks for your input though.

Since the AI didn't use this just remove it totally.

When that agree with Arathorn icon is ready can you send it to me aswell!

No not a good idea, as like someone else said, AI doesnt use it, I only use it sparingly and wouldnt miss it if it were to go.

I wonder If they will have a city overview screen.... *Sense a New thread coming....

I would rather the AI learn to use the luxury slider than see it eliminated. It gives a number of strategic options/benefits and some of us use it all the time. Happiness/unhappiness is not going away (at least, I hope not!) and the luxury slider gives a good macroscopic way of dealing with the issue.

I had no idea that the AI didn't use it, hopefully they'll make the AI better in civ4. On the other hand there's been some talk about multiplayer and this idea might fit better in those games. It would be easier to see the resemblens (sp) to Nazigermany or communistic Soviet with different sliders...

The argument that fascistic regims don't have warweariness only apply in civ3 and not the real world, which would give my slider a reason to fight warweariness.
And the communists will always have their clowns...

And you other that don't like it... Any reason?
