Has any one replaced city view buildings? I'm trying to replace the colossus with the twin towers but the purple doesn't go transparent.

I have not tried to change the buildings in the city view so far. But what you mention sounds like a pallete problem. Perhaps you should try to maintain the pallete for the pcx file.

I imported the palette and it works now, except that there is an outline of the colossus with the towers.

The outline must be caused by the shadow. Beside the building pcx file there is always another shadow file (with the additional extension of ***_sh.pcx ) associated with all the buildings.
