Replay #4 Slow and steady wins the race

To get back at what you wrote: While you have 10 cities that are all size 15, I have 3 cities of that size that are highly specialized, 10 that are size 3-4, work only their best tiles and the rest gets whipped away, and I'm going to conquer again that much with the units I have. Whipping Anger doesn't matter, because once I have the new cities, I can whip in them and my old cities can recover, if one of them gets into Unhappiness, I whip a Market giving 4 Happiness costing 3 pop, if the city still grows into Unhappiness, I produce Settlers or work Specialists and stall the growth, and at the moment at which I can't do anything against it anymore, I've won the game :).

Did this lead to cities that weren't producing settlers or workers (and therefore not having to feed their unhappy citizens) losing population from starvation all the time?

I'm guessing that they were all building the settlers you needed, but was any population loss from starvation going on at any point in whipped Sushi-less cities?

1 turn 1 hour! Part II

Happy guessing :)

Sera

When the unhappiness counter was discussed earlier in the thread the number 2580 popped into my head for no apparent reason, so I'll go with that.

My guess is that you see the error of your ways and become a benevolent leader. The whip counter ends at a happy zero and you have a million Civ V golden ages as a result.

OR you hit the maximum value for a 32 bit integer (2 billionish) and it overflows back to zero.

Either way, zero is my guess :D

Founding cities on hills really is free defense for as long as Catapults are available, and once there are Catapults, it's ololol if one has Drill II promoted LBs from Oracle Feudalism :>

Dat super man Longbow with Drill V and City Defender 3 is all like sup.

Anyhow, I prefer to stay out of fights, most annoying about AI going to war with ones self are the bribes they do, one moment, everything is ok, "you just need that land and don't have Currency yet", and then it's 5 vs 1 and you have to cripple your complete developement and hope AI bribed stupid other AIs sitting 10 miles away from you, if they're your neighbours, ******** delete.

That actually hasn't happened to me in a long long time. But yea 5v1 = time to start another game.

You don't know that? ^^ IMP applies to all Hammers (not Food) , Whips counts as Hammers, Forges make Whips more efficient because they multiply Hammers. IMP imho is best trait, I'd love the Romans, Vicc, Catherine or OP Joao once, and surely will when the time is right.

I thought it did I just wasn't sure. >.> What do you mean you'd love the Romans, and company?

You mean "Adrianople", the city with the 5 coastal tiles and the rest all ?

Here is a Screenshot of it from the end of the round, now you tell me, what is that city, is it a Hammer City, a Commerce City, Hybrid or as what would you classify it? ^^

Because it's hard to see on those resized screens imo:

100 Hammers
180 Gold Income generated at 0%
150 Gold Maintenance caused with Courthouse
Size 30

^^
No way that is a freaking Sid Sushi and Mining Inc city, nothing else.

This is a bit of exaggeration. The date for space colony was 140 BC. The difference in cost between settler and deity is stark. I used environmentalism with Cereal Mills on the strength of only two GMB cities and no Wall Street with 44 cities. Pre-launch empire was netting over 10k BPT not 10k for expenses alone.

140 BC, 200 BC, that are only 6 turns :) Was is a GMB city?

Did this lead to cities that weren't producing settlers or workers (and therefore not having to feed their unhappy citizens) losing population from starvation all the time?

No, of course there wasn't any starvation. Just remember the Happy-Cap of which I told you in that round, 35+, that means, one can work all tiles and still have 15 unhappy citizens, all that happened was, that I could not work as many specialists (or normal citizens) as would have been possible in the very very end, but at that point of the round, that didn't matter. Maybe I'd have had a little more BPT then and the Spaceship would have been a few turns faster.

But what if I have 64 Bit :D

That actually hasn't happened to me in a long long time. But yea 5v1 = time to start another game.

When someone in my games reaches Alpha, he / she always bribes anyone against me if I attack, but this is very early game Might be, that Civs act differently later. One just has to imagine, that if I play with Incans, Civs get bribe against me with 300 Beaker techs, I think, Bribes tend to be very cheap in the beginning. And I've won games already where it was 5vsMe, but only with fast peace-treaties after Currency ;)

I thought it did I just wasn't sure. >.> What do you mean you'd love the Romans, and company?

I forgot to write "to play" , maybe I deleted it by accident.

Sera

P.S.: The next part of this Replay will take me some time still, the Civ God has come to visit me in Munich and because of her, I have to play. Currently I'm in a round with Incans that could actually beat the 3.2M of which I dream, my luck at least has increased by at least 1000% since she's there :>

Next update will come tomorrow or the day after tomorrow :)

As said, the civ-god is still at my place and I have to play because of the additional 1000% luck :D

We have :)

I have a preview for you from the round, I hope you like it :)

III means you died 2 times, and since then, you didn't get any chance to make any XP, but I'm hoping that you'll do better when being a Cuirrassier in the war against France :)

 I love it! I'm ready to die horribly as many times as it takes to defeat the French!

It probably has to do with me bribing the AI to war usually with Aesth and Alpha. If the whole world isn't at war something is wrong, something I learned from AZ. x]

A city with angry citizens is no good (but it's still better than raising the culture-slider at most times) . Workaround for this is to build Settlers / Workers in them because 1. it stops Growth 2. Unhappy citizens don't cost Food when building those units.

I never thought of that! I always whip unhappiness out.

In Sushi games, you cannot bribe the AIs against each other because you need good relations to everyone to get their ressources later.

I never thought of that! I always whip unhappiness out.

I do the same until I have Sushi, but with +40F the cities grow so fast, that whipping the unhappienss away would only cause greater unhappiness a few turns later. In addition, with the Kremlin even the biggest whips get so small, that it's almost impossible to sacrifice enough population. Settlers are 2pop-whips then, that pop is regrown in 4 turns etc.

Cya, Sera

My people know nothing of Corporations! All they have ever experienced is the wonderful days of working towards the happiness of all!

Why do you need to have good relations with everyone? Just so you can get resources off the? Most AI will trade resources at cautious I thought?

Some cautious, some annoyed, some need even pleased, but staying cautious is not as easy as you think if someone has another religion than you and has asked you 2 or 3 times to join hi stupid war / begged for a tech / civic / religion change etc.

In my current round I play Incans again, and it's impossible for me to get the ressources from Suryarvarman, Tokugawa and Peter. With Suryar and Peter I share +5 through favorite civic, still I'm unable to get them to cautious because of Religion and stupid chain-requests. Tokugawa needs pleased to trade his Ressources, and just in the turn where I could switch to Free Religion without Anarchy due to a GA he asked me to join his war, -2, thxkkbb.

Btw. Zero, I also have a preview-Screen for you:

Hope you like being a n00bphant :D

You btw. showed some skills, in the war against Justinian, you beat a Pike with 60%ish chances and captured a city with Airship Support (Airships and Phants are awesome, I advice everybody reading this here to beeline Physics after Construction :p ) . As you can see, you didn't die a single time and lvled quite well.

Next part of the Writeup coming today!

I never thought of that! I always whip unhappiness out.

VoiceOfUnreason is the earliest source to my agenda who publicized the idea.

Here's a more detailed thingy.

It's nice to grow to size 6 early in the game without CHA and/happy resources and while losing no food with worker or settler, you make a 3-pop whip.

I R STRONK!

Sheesh, American folks sure have a degraded english. :)
Le frenchie I am iz bettar then U!
