Hi all,

Here is a situation:
I have a mutual protection pact with americans. I went to war with French . Americans declared war on French. Now (2 turns latter) I want peace with French because I took all I wanted from them (rubber).

Will it count against me going forward if I do sign a peace treaty with French when my allies the Americans are still at war with the Evil French? I did not ask the Americans to go to war, they did it on their own...

This is in plain vanila 1.29f civ3.

Thanks
D

... and the answer is ...

No. You will not take a rep hit when you make peace with the French

BUT

you will get a rep hit when the French war with America triggers your Mutual protection pact and you are forced to declare war to the French thus breaking your Peace treaty while the ink on it is still wet.

Moreover, although you say that the Americans declared war on their own, in fact due to the MPP with you they had to declare war.

Bottom line: no peace until either America makes peace or MPP expires.

and the answer is: yes, probably!

the problem is: you get peace, no problem

France attacks a US unit in US territory or bombards a tile - you have to declare war, thus breaking a time-limited (20 turns) peace treaty - rep hit!

there should be an SMAC thing where you can ask your rivals to call off the vendettas
