I'm looking to start modding to fill out my YNAEMP games, but I'm not really sure I'd be great at coming up with balanced abilities, so I was hoping I could ask the community to do that for me. After all that is the least boring part of making a civ right?

If it helps I'm using the 12?x6? earth map, or around that size.

I'd like to fill out the following areas:

Eastern Canada (Perhaps Canada proper, if it's TSL would fit)
Western Canada/Alaska (Eskimo Civ or something?)
Western-Midwestern US (Probably a Native American Civ)
South-Eastern US (Confederate US would be best bet)
Northern Mexico (I'd say Mexico)
Southern South Mexico (No idea TBH)

That's just off the top of my head for the large areas I don't remember there being a civ to spawn in. If there's any other large areas that don't have TSL civs, I can add to this list.

In short, I'd like suggestions for abilities that would be balanced. I encourage critiqueing and improving other people's ideas over 20 different Canadian leaders. Thank you.

How about Mi'kmaq, led by Membertou, for eastern Canada? I think there's already a Canada mod, so why not do something unique like Mi'kmaq? I read that they were probably one of the first First Nations that Europeans met when they reached America. And apparently they also invented a hockey stick. That's good for Canada, eh?

I was actually going to make my own Mi'kmaq civilization but I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to coding. I'd love to make my own civilizations but I need a bit more knowledge first.

I was thinking that I would've made their civilization ability relate to the Grand Council, which was a Mi'kmaq government level until the Indian Act happened, after which the Grand Council adopted a more spiritual function (according to Wikipedia.) I would've given Faith from Industrial Zones and Production from Holy Sites to reflect the two functions of the Grand Council.

And Membertou was converted to Catholicism, but before that, he was a political leader as well as a spiritual one. So Faith should be involved here as well. Wikipedia, my main source of info when it comes to research for my new civ mod ideas, says that Membertou was thought to possess healing power by his people. So why not give the Pantheon effect of bonus healing to units in friendly territory, along with a 2nd faith-related bonus on top of it?

What do you think?

Very unusual idea, but I would say that definitely fits Civ 6's goal of big personalities.

As for there already being a Canada mod, if you're talking about the one I think you do, the leaderhead is Theodore Roosevelt and it's overall OP, so I'm fine with us thinking up an idea for our own version of Canada.

Ok, I'll have to make my own Mi'kmaq civ myself then. :P

I figured that Canada would be made by many people, so your Canada mod would have to compete with other Canada mods, and I don't know about you, but I personally want to make my own mods of civilizations that other people aren't going to make mods for. For example, Gedemon's YnAMP sub-project, where he's making like 50+ civs, has Canada as one of the civs on the list, so I'm not going to try making my own Canada, even though that's where I live. It's up to you, of course.

Oh no, I'd be fine with making a Mi'kmaq civ. I'm just saying I don't mind making a Canada civ either.

So come up with the stats for the Mi'kmaq and I'll see if I can get it working.
