Hi guys, first time posting here. Been browsing for about 3 years now. I recently downloaded this "Fall Further" after being addicted to FFH2 since its release. Now this.....you guys don't want me to have a life, do you? (seriously though, this mod is the best version of Civ4 I've ever played.) I play same difficulty lvl, but its much more of a challenge now. One thing that I would just like to see more of...is how people play certain Civs. I can honestly say that half the fun of playing these mods is searching for, studying, executing a strategy that I read about here on these forums. So please, I just blindly played a Scion game and completely dominated....I think it was luck, since I did all my researching techs according to the typical FFH2 regular mod. (Which I'm told is a No No)

How about it guys, some tips on playing the new civs?

PS- Is it normal for my Awakened % to become non existent after a certain amount of time? Went from like 12% to ZERO and stayed there. Maybe I hit a Population Cap? I play on Standard size map...on Monarch....Normal speed.

You most likely hit the spawn cap. If you're looking for scion strategies, this should help you.

Oh bro, I've read that scion strat 100 times. I have scoured this whole forums for specific strategies or tips. I use that wonderful search box up top, along with my trusty CTRL F. I swear, sometimes I spend more time reading about how to play a civ....then I do actually playing.

First thing that comes to mind is that the difficulty adjustment for Awakened spawning could be off. I think it's mostly been tested at higher levels, and the adjustment is based around performance at Immortal... So, basically, it's something of a guess.

Luck's possible though. Both in spawning's random nature and how important a good starting position is for the Scions.

Yep.

In that case, the way I generally play them is with lots of little cities... I max out my capital, and all other cities only receive as much population as their high-production tiles will allow. My capital becomes a Great Priest farm for the Altar, and builds hordes of the scion priest units. My little cities do almost nothing but build the spawn rate buildings, like the Temple of the Gift. My tech usually goes straight to Mysticism for the Kylorin Cult, then Code of Laws. After that, Bronzeworking, Drama, and Religious Laws for the Red Lady and the Cathedral of Rebirth. Usually, I go to war with a small group of elite units, led by the Red Lady and made up of highly promoted priests/honored bands.

Yeah, I play it similar to that...but I snag a couple minor techs before I beeline to those. The ONE Civ that actually has a decent strategy thread on this FF forum so far, is the Scions. You play any of the other new races yet?

The Archos have strong Melee and Recon lines, and their UU druid is awesome so I would say go down the Recon line. The Mazatl require nearly no strategy, just get to commerce for their Lost Lands civic, and try to settle in Jungle. I haven't played the other new races much yet, but they don't seem to need much strategy either. Austrin are recon, Dural are builders, Kahdi seem to be magic oriented. The only civ that really needs a strat thread is the Scions, imo.

Yep.

Not luck, a bug that I thought was normal....Master's Hall gave me like 2 TRILLION GPs. I thought maybe it was random at first....but it was basically a GP every turn or two. I was semi winning before that anyway, but still.

The best advice I can give for the Scions is "location location location" regarding where you plop your starter city.

Near Patrian artifacts or gold is great, though.

Thanks for the advice, I think I got Scion down...now that I understand some of the things that stumped me. Like the Awakenening spawn clock stopping due to Population. And I hesitated this time, when it came down to spreading Haunted. But towards the end, I covered the whole map with it. Love that gold bonus!

This.

Mazatl are like Ljosalfar on crack. They get stupid amounts of food from just about everything. Deep jungle gives food, swamps give food, cottages give food (with lost lands) and even trade routes give food, with LL again.

Not hard to dominate with, to be honest.

I kinda agree with this. Matzatl are my favorite race, but I feel guilty playing them because of how well I do. I end up with MANY size 30-35 cities. However I also play flavor starts. So I start in Jungle. In a different area the story is very different.

I am gonna try them on a "non-flavor" style first. But yeah, look for jungles eh. If I enjoy this race, like I did my first try at Scion....

Edit: Yeah...I reloaded 12 times and had a hard time finding jungle!! So Flavour it is!

Is there, or will there be a Bloom style spell for Jungle Growth?
Also, what civics do you prefer other then Lost Lands which is obvious. I used to use City States A LOT, but read that Aristocracy was better...I am sure its situational.....examples? ( I know I ask alot of questions, sorry)

You don't really need to created Jungle. If you have a river in your area, it will come. It just takes a while.

I use whatever Civs give my trade routes bonuses. When you have 4-8 trade routes per city and each trade route is +4 or +5 :commerce: AND :hammers: AND :food: each ... I think Lizards can live on Trade alone.

Keep in mind they do not destroy Jungle just like elves don't destroy forest with improvements

Only thing that I can see that makes trade routes better is Lost Lands.....which is a given. What Government,Labor,etc....do you prefer. See I used City States for like a YEAR before I realized there was better.
