Reset Achievements

I was think that now so much is going to change with the patch, I'll feel like i got some achievements dishonestly. For example, I beat Deity by horse rushing (like most people) , but now this is being nurfed, I could never do it again, therefore I shouldn't have the achievement...? If anyone follows?

Is there a way to rest them all (officially or not)?

Even with the change, I'm sure there will be cheap ways to get each achievement. I think the better approach is just to put no value in them anyway. Maybe you can enjoy the ideas for challenges they may give you, but as a system for "gamer medals" it's more or less pointless in a game like civ5.

According to some research I've done, its possible to use a 3rd party program called 'SAM' Steam Achievement Manager, to give yourself (or take away) steam achievements (for any game on Steam).

There seems to be some debate however about whether or not this can get you accout banned by VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat)

heh, I thought I'd beat the Mongol campaign this weekend because of the nerf, so I would unlock that achievement. Well, I beat it. To bad the achievement is broken, LOL

Achievements are really just eye candies. They aren't worth anything, not even bragging rights. You have them, great. You don't, no big deal.

To your queston, no I have no idea if they can be reset.

I actually enjoy achievements on my Xbox 360 since I have a gamerscore that it affects and I have friends/family who can see it. I don't take real them serious like some people, but I'll make an effort to get them if it's not too hard. I find them fun. For Steam achievements, I really don't care since I don't know anyone else on Steam, nobody will ever see my achievements, and there's not even a score. Oh well.

As I posted above, SAM is a method of resetting them, but it is kind of a hack so...

On the Debug Panel (accessible by the '~' key if you have the option "DebugPanel" set to 1 in config.ini) there is a button for "Reset Achievements." I have no idea if it actually works but you can give it a shot.

If you uninstall the game totally it would probably also reset them. Then you could reinstall it. If you wanted to go through all of that. Doesn't seem worth it.

I doubt it, I would presume that they would tied to your Steam account.

I've just tried accessing the debug panel, couldn't even get it to appear :s

And yes, I did activate it in the config file? Is there anything else which needs to be configured to activate it?

Alright, here's how to access the Debug Panel on some different KeyBoards.
Mine is a Logitech G110 (mostly standard 101+ illuminated RBM keys with three supplemental sets of G1-G12 memory shortcuts on the left-side, etc) and i also couldn't trigger DP with the infamous-tilde ~.

So i picked up an old reference AscII sheet from a drawer and found a corresponding tag for it...
Quotation " (which is located beside the Enter-Key) actually replaces it on mine, although the language task bar is defined here as EN-FR and the Keyboard as a Multi-Canadian... defaults.

Give it a try.

Ok. Will try but not sure f it will work. When you opened the panel, did you see any reset achievement button?

Just got my panel open. It was the ' key on mine!

Also, can confirm that 'reset achievement' button made no difference to the ones steam says are already unlocked.

Its possible it may have rest counts for Wonders/Units forests chopped etc.

' & " are simply two of the same on most keyboards except when shift must be used.
I'm guessing that the Reset_Achievements button was either left over from earlier design steps (and thus, doesn't perform any task) or was kept by devs for some mysterious later use.
