And yes I've given in and will be getting FM5 for christmas...

Sitting at the top of Serie B with 10 games to go. The previous 3 results were a couple of disappointing draws where in the first game there were chances to win and in the second game we threw away a 3-1 lead. Happily we had a huge 0-3 win away against Napoli who are usually impossible to beat.

Game 1/10

Atalanta 1-3 Genoa

Always great when you are in a title run in and just need about 7 wins to clinch promotion and 8 to win the whole division, to lose the first game because of two penalties...

Game 2/10

Treviso 0-1 Atalanta (Playing the team in 19th)

On loan player Della Roca came off the bench to score his first and the only goal of the game in a close encounter. Unfortunately Espinal who had been my tactical change that probably gave us the win.

Game 3/10

Atalanta 3-0 Avellino(8th)

Montolivo opened the scoring with a 4th minute goal and Comandini continued the trend of strikers scoring their first goal near the end of the season to put Atalanta 2-0 up. Innocenti scored late on to finish off the game.

Game 4/10

(24th)Como 0-1 Atalanta

Was still goalless until the 90th minute where Pazzini scored his 35th goal of the season to give 10 man Atalanta the victory after Montolivo had been sent off minutes efore.

Game 5/10

Atalanta 3-0 Perugia(15th)

Captain Zenoni scored from the edge of the area to give Atalanta the early lead. Another long range effort, this time from a free kick was scored by Bernardini to go 2 up into the break. Man of the match Zenoni scored again near the end in an entirely one sided match where the shot totals were 17-0

After that game the news says that Atalanta have been officially promoted.

Game 6/10

Atalanta 3-0 Pescara(13th)

Another home game and another comfortable victory. Bianchi scored twice to get a perfect 10/10 match rating and take home the man of the match award whilst Pazzini added another goal to his tally.

Game 7/10

(23rd)Empoli 1-1 Atalanta

Bianchi scored a 72nd minute goal to allow Atalanta to avoid an embarrassing defeat which would have given Empoli a 100% record against Atalanta. Earlier in the season Empoli somehow scored 2 goals from their two efforts at shooting to win the game 0-2 when we had dominated the game.

Game 8/10

(15th)Messina 1-0 Atalanta

Pazzini was fouled in the area, then missed the penalty and the followup shot which left Messina to score a 91st minute goal to win the game. Ironically results elsewhere mean that Triestina can no longer catch us and therefore the title is now ours. Triestina drew 0-0 away against 3rd.

:D

Game 9/10

Atalanta 3-1 Ascoli(17th)

They scored first but goals from Zenoni, Marcolini and a penalty converted by Pazzini gave Atalanta another win.

Game 10/10

(22nd)Modena 1-1 Atalanta

The final game of the season. Already relegated Modena against already promoted Atalanta. Karagounis (That good greek player) one of my potential summer signings scored first for the home side. Bernardini equalised from a free kick outside the area and thats how it finished.

Overall:

So over the last 10 games we won 6, drew 2 and lost 2 with a final points tally of 96 points. Bring on next season where it'll be the story of Atalanta desparately avoiding relegation.

Milan did the double, Arsenal won the premiership, Newcastle United won the UEFA cup (against Barcelona), Everton won the FA cup (against Man United ) and Lazio won the European Cup (2-0 against Juventus).

The end of season awards:

Serie B player of the year: Pazzini
Serie B manager of the year: Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Serie B top goalscorer: Pazzini (with 35 league goals)

And Pazzini and Marcolini both get into the Serie B team of the year.

My current game is going exceptionally well. Playing as Sheffield Wednesday.

First season: Win divison 2
Second season: Win divison 1, FA Cup and League Cup, qualifing for UEFA
Third season: 3rd in Premiership, make semi finals of UEFA, qualify for Champions league

But now my board needs to restrict my extravagent spending (1.5 million last year! I'm so extravagent!) to 6 mil, and wants me to challenge for the title, and everyone wants a honking great pay rise. Still paying off a directors loan at 750,000 a month, and nearly gone bankrupt a few times, so fair enough.

Title odds: 150-1 "We would do well to stay in the division

Board expectations: Expect the club to battle bravely against relegation.

Supporters expectations: Achieve a safe mid table position

Game 1/38

Milan 1-0 Atalanta

Last year's serie A winners against the serie B winner. Never really going to be much of a contest even if Pazzini wasn't injured for 2 months and loan replacement Benjamin hadn't been injured in the game as well.

Game 2/38

(12th)Verona 1-3 Atalanta(17th)

Playing another promoted side away was likely to be a close game and Verona did come back early in the second half but two first half goals from Bianchi and a late goal from Comandini clinched Atalanta's first victory of the season.

Game 3/38

(9th)Atalanta 2-3 Inter(5th)

Inter opened the scoring but after 10 minutes it was 1-1. Atalanta then briefly took the lead with a second goal from Benjamin. Sadly Inter soon equalised and in the second half they scored the only other goal to win the game.

Game 4/38

(13th)Atalanta 1-3 Lazio(10th)

Vugrinec briefly gave some hope of a result when he equalised but a goal just before half time seemed to crush Atalanta and the second half was all Lazio...

Game 5/38

(12th)Roma 2-2 Atalanta(14th)

Marcolini scored the first goal entirely against the run of play and was instrumental in setting up the second for Pazzini who had returned to the squad a month earlier than expected. A penalty let Roma back into the game and in the end Atalanta were lucky to hold on for a point.

Game 6/38

(14th)Atalanta 0-0 Fiorentina(18th)

Should have won after dominating the game but nothing went in which leaves Atalanta still searching for their first home win.

Game 7/38

(2nd)Juventus 1-2 Atalanta(15th)

Sereni earnt his money in goal with a 10/10 match winning display where he kept out a string of late chances to deny Juventus the equaliser. Bianchi opened the scoring with a first minute goal and Bernardini doubled the score early in the second half from a free kick. Juventus had 18 shots.

Game: Italian cup 1st round 1st leg

(A)Atalanta 3-0 Avellino(B)

Back to playing serie B opposition and goals from Pazzini, Montolivo and Benjamin showed the difference between the teams.

Game 9/38

(8th)Parma 2-0 Atalanta(10th)

Last season Parma struggled to stay in serie A and we did have a reasonable amount of chances, sadly they didn't result to much. Its a game that at the start of the season would have been nice to get something out of.

Game 10/38

(13th)Napoli 1-1 Atalanta(11th)

The previous fixture between these two teams ended 0-3 in our favour, however today they scored first and whilst Atalanta dominated the match we could only equalise with a 90th minute penalty converted by Pazzini.

Game 11/38

(10th)Atalanta 1-0 Triestina(12th)

Facing the suprise team to promote last season and also doing reasonably well in serie B but we expected to win and in the end a goal in the first minute scored by Bianchi was enough to win the game with both sides having several chances to alter the score.

Game: Italian cup 1st round 2nd leg

(B)Avellino 3-0p Atalanta(A) (3-3)

Decided to rest a few key players and change the defense with the idea of giving them a rest but it didn't pay off as Avellino raced into a 3 goal lead before halftime and no more goals would be scored for the rest of the game. However good penalty takers gave us the edge as we won the penalty lottery to go through. Its a shame we had to play extra time which basically wasted any benefit of resting other players.

Game 12/38

(10th)Atalanta 1-1 Bologna(12th)

1-0 after a Marcolini goal but a 90th minute goal against the run of play let Bologna back into the game. A game that we should have held on to against a team that co owns our best defender although they get to play him and it would take 7 million to buy the other 50%.

Game 13/38

(18th)Reggina 0-3 Atalanta(10th)

A result that made up for last weeks last minute equaliser as all three strikers scored. Pazzini opening the scoring, Bianchi doubling the lead and then Benjamin, as a second half sub, wrapping up the game.

Game 14/38

(8th)Atalanta 3-1 Palermo(17th)

A long range goal scored by Zenoni got the game going and it exploded just before half time with a goal from Pazzini quickly matched by a goal scored by Palermo. However with the last chance of the half, Montolivo scored from a freekick to restore Atalanta's two goal lead that lasted for the rest of the game. Interesting how a run of easier games can make such a difference.

Game 15/38

(7th)Siena 0-2 Atalanta(6th)

A defining game of the season. Atalanta on a decent run travelled to face Siena who had a great start to the season but have recently struggled to continue that run of form. 0-0 at half time and Zenoni off for a slight injury but bringing on Benjamin midway through the second half inspired the team and on the 83rd minute he got the important goal. Man of the match Marcolini scored with an amazing 30 yard strike which he was delighted with.

Game 16/38

(6th)Atalanta 0-0 Brescia(10th)

Poor finishing cost us the game which we probably should have won when Brescia were reduced to 10 men midway through the second half.

Game: Italian cup 2nd round 1st leg

(A)Milan 2-1 Atalanta(A)

Once again we found ourselves playing Milan away in the first leg of a second round cup match. Last season we lost 1-0. This time we lost 2-1 after Bianchi had given us the lead and then conceded a 93rd minute winner.

Game 17/38

(7th)Sampdoria 2-0 Atalanta(6th)

A late goal and a penalty gave the victory to Sampdoria as Atalanta's unbeaten run came to an end. We did have chances to open the scoring but once they scored it looked like they would claim all 3 points.

Game 18/38

(7th)Atalanta 1-0 Ancona(19th)

Last season we played Ancona twice in the league and one in the cup and won all three matches so with the league positions as they are this was a very winnable game and a goal from Bernardini was enough to give us another win. Ancona may feel reasonably annoyed though since they had a goal ruled out during the second half. Unfortunately Bianchi is out for a month.

Game: Italian cup 2nd round 2nd leg

Atalanta 1-0 Milan (a2-2)

A game largely dominated by the home side with the final shots finishing 10-2 in their favour. Benjamin scored the winning goal in the last 10 minutes to put Atalanta through on away goals. Unfortunately now defender Sarr is out for a month as well.

Game 19/38

(6th)Atalanta 3-0 Chievo(14th)

Relatively easy game in the end with the difference in their league positions showing. Marcolini opened the scoring, Pazzini then scored a rebound off a a shot from Zenoni and then converted a late penalty. Which is actually only our third league penalty. After the game the Chievo manager was sacked for his poor record.

Game 20/38

(5th)Atalanta 0-0 Verona(9th)

We dominated the game again against the other team from Verona but the breakthrough just never happened and in the end both sides took away a point.

Game 21/38

(3rd)Inter 2-2 Atalanta(5th)

A great result in the end since Inter dominated the game and were expected to win especially after opening the scoring after 10 minutes. A goal just before the break scored by Pazzini got Atalanta back in the game. Inter once again took the lead late on which looked to have won them the game but then Marcolini scored to tie the game once again in the 88th minute.

Game: Italian cup Quarter final 1st leg

Lazio 0-0 Atalanta

Dull match but it leaves everything to play for in the second leg.

Game 22/38

(7th)Atalanta 0-0 Milan(1st)

New signing Papa Waigo made his debut but in the end it was a solid defense that allowed Atalanta to hold on for a point against the league leaders.

Game: Italian cup Quarter final 2nd leg

Atalanta 0-0 Lazio (e1-0)

After a run of two goals with decent results but without a goal scored it was slightly worrying to see a third game heading towards a goalless end. However in the 116th minute a cross from Benjamin was met by Pazzini who beat the keeper and put Atalanta through to the next round.

Game 23/38

(7th)Lazio 2-0 Atalanta(8th)

The continuation of a difficult series of league matches where we have faced both teams from Milan and Lazio and also played two difficult cup games. Whilst results have been quite positive this result leaves us with 3 points from 4 games which has seen us tumble down the league table slightly.

Game 24/38

(17th)Fiorentina 0-2 Atalanta(8th)

What we needed after some difficult games was a comfortable win and thats what we achieved. Pazzini scored the opener and then just before the break Fiorentina were reduced to 10 men. Atalanta continued to dominate the game and near the end Zenoni doubled the lead to guarentee all three points.

Game: Italian cup Semi final 1st leg

Inter 3-1 Atalanta

Inter largely dominated the game but a goal from Pazzini just before the break did cut the lead from two goals to one, however a second half goal from Inter restored the two goal cushion. Atalanta will have a difficult job to win 2-0 at home.

Game 25/38

(8th)Atalanta 2-0 Roma(5th)

A goal either side of the break and a solid goalkeeping performance gave Atalanta all three points. Papa Waigo scored his first for Atalanta and the opener and then a lob from outside the area beat the keeper to put Marcolini's name on the scoresheet. Pazzini was the man of the match for tirelessly running at the Roma defense all day and keeping the game balanced when it threatened to be one sided.

Game 26/38

(8th)Atalanta 2-0 Juventus(3rd)

After winning at home against a big name team, the challenge was to go one better and the team delivered in style. The first goal was from a long pass deep in our own half by Zenoni, Pazzini beat the Juventus defense to pick up the pass, beat the keeper and put the ball in the back of the net. A second half lob from the edge of the area doubled Pazzini's tally and that was enough for the win. Atalanta had the most shots (8-5) and there is a feeling that the team really earnt this victory rather than simply being lucky like in the away fixture.

I brought David Seaman and Teddy Sheringham to Coventry on this game, but they are both old and useless, lol.

In my third season in charge of Coventry. Was pushing for a playoff spot in my first season, but dropped away from the top 6 towards the end of the season. Finished 17th. Plus 3 of my my best players retired.:(

Season 2 was midtable obscurity...finished 15th. Afew promising youngsters coming through though.:D

Season 3 looked good for a top 6 finish, but the results just weren't there. Currently hovering around 12th place, which is an improvement over the last 2 seasons I guess. I think the squad is a bit too young (alot of the players are below 20). Two of my top players won't sign new contracts becuase they I can't meet their wage demands, so next season ain't looking too great either.

The final update for season two, things went a lot better for Atalanta than for your Coventry :p

Game 27/38

(17th)Udinese 0-3 Atalanta(7th)

Clinical finishing was the difference between the two sides with both sides having a similar number of shots. Pazzini celebrated signing a new contract by scoring a first half hattrick that proved to be the deciding factor between the two teams.

Game 28/38

(4th)Atalanta 5-0 Napoli(11th)

The strike partnership of Waigo and Pazzini were on fire as both players scored 10/10 performances, however it was Pazzini who stole the show scoring all 5 goals. Two scored in the first half and then three in the second after Napoli were reduced to 10 men. As Atalanta prepare for the last 10 games of the season they have reached a season long high in terms of league position and after playing most of the teams above them already, champions league qualification could be a reality although that will depend on this rich run of form continuing.

Game: Italian cup Semi final 2nd leg

Atalanta 1-0 Inter Milan (2-3)

The game was dominated by Atalanta who took the lead early on. Bianchi scored after coming on for injured Papa Waigo but unfortunately the second goal never came. Bianchi did manage to get the ball into the back of the net a second time late on but it was ruled out which sees Inter go into the final and Atalanta must now do well in the league if they want to qualify for european football next year.

Game 29/38

(10th)Triestina 0-2 Atalanta(4th)

Innocenti, a player who has repeatedly tried to leave the club, scored the opener and Pazzini then scored his 9th league goal in 3 matches to clinch the game for Atalanta and extend their winning run to 6 games which is a new Atalanta record.

Game 30/38

(4th)Atalanta 3-0 Parma(8th)

Two more goals scored by Pazzini in the first half and a goal by Bianchi gave Atalanta victory over a team who had comfortably beaten them earlier in the season. Another win extends Atalanta's winning run to 7 games where they have also avoided conceding a goal. This victory also elevates Atalanta to third at least temporarily.

Game 31/38

(12th)Bologna 0-2 Atalanta(4th)

After Juventus played their two games in hand we were back to fourth at the start of the day. Bologna may feel that they deserved something out of the game where they had several chances to score but once again finishing was the difference that gave Atalanta the edge as Pazzini and then Bianchi both scored.

Game 32/38

(3rd)Atalanta 2-1 Reggina(19th)

The scoreline doesn't really reflect the match as it was another dominate Atalanta performance. Last season's strike partnership of Bianchi and Pazzini were both on form to score one each in the first half. Only a 90th minute Reggina goal changed the scoreline. The winning run has now gone for 9 games although Atalanta have finally conceded a goal.

Game 33/38

(15th)Brescia 0-1 Atalanta(3rd)

Atalanta rose to 2nd in the league after winning their tenth league game in a row. A Pazzini penalty was the difference between the two sides.

Game 34/38

(13th)Palermo 1-1 Atalanta(3rd)

Finally after 11 games another side scored first and the winning run came to an end. Although it was still Pazzini who scored the goal that secured Atalanta another point in their suprise push for european qualification. At the same time Milan were winning their 3rd title in succession.

Game 35/38

(3rd)Atalanta 0-0 Siena(13th)

A pretty dull match which didn't match up with the reverse fixture where Atalanta won and have since risen up the table whilst Siena have dropped to midtable.

Game 36/38

(3rd)Atalanta 1-1 Sampdoria(8th)

Atalanta went into the match knowing that a victory would go a long way towards gaining a champions league qualification place. Zenoni put Atalanta on their way but a late penalty gave Sampdoria the equaliser and leaves Atalanta probably needing a victory or two out of their remaining two away fixtures.

Game 37/38

(20th)Ancona 2-1 Atalanta(3rd)

Just when Atalanta needed to play to their best ability, they put in their worst performance. The game got off to a bad start with a 5th minute goal for Ancona. An equaliser from Bianchi gave some hope that we might do the impossible and overcome a team that had scored first but unfortunately they scored again at the start of the second half. Goalkeeper Sereni had a nightmare game.

38/38

The last match of the season, 3 teams and two remaining CL places. Atalanta still occupy third, Inter are fourth with the same number of points whilst Roma are 2 points behind. Inter play at home later on Tuesday whilst Roma play on Wednesday because of both playing in the Italian cup final which Roma won. A win is what is required.

(16th)Chievo 0-3 Atalanta(3rd)

A goal from Zenoni and then another by Pazzini gave Atalanta a two goal lead inside 15 minutes. Another goal from Pazzini before halftime gave Atalanta the win which made up for the disappointment of losing last week against a team that was already relegated. 3 more points guarentees us a CL qualification place but if Inter win by 5 goals they will finish third.

End of Season awards:

Serie A young player of the year: Pazzini - Apparently I am a key factor in his success
Serie A team of the year: Zenoni is included
Serie A top goal scorer: Pazzini with 28 goals

Inter 1-2 Sampdoria

That result guarentees Atalanta third in their league and their highest ever league position EVER!!!!!

(Unless they finished third before 1930 or second in 1915 since CM doesn't list those teams for some reason)

Man United won the Premiership and the FA cup after getting revenge on Everton, Marseille the UEFA cup and Arsenal won the Champions League.

Good job. :goodjob: So now I'm assuming that next season you will enter the third qualifying round of the Champion's League?

Inspired by you, I went and got the demo for this game, which apparently only lets you play as English teams, but gives you everything else. I started as Liverpool. I am doing pretty shabbily in the Premier Division, owing to a rocky start plagued with injuries to my midfield and defense (and Michael Owen), but I am getting it together now. I am doing quite well in Europe, at the top of Champion's League Group B on 11 points, 3-2-0 (undefeated!) record. I'm with Ajax (beat once), Inter (beat once, drawn once), and Boavista (beat once, drawn once), and have qualified for the second phase, so given the fact my team is injury-prone, I will rest some key players during the last group game against Ajax.

And I will most likely get the full version for Christmas. :king:

Usually in CM demos you can only play half a season. Yeah I think I will join the third qualifying round. Hopefully I'll play an easy team.

That was unusual. The game processed and when it finished I had 59 new messages.

It seems all the messages refer to part ownership deals that had to be decided this week by private bidding. This is about the strangest idea ever. Both clubs make private bids to the FA and then the highest bid gets the player. I just kept one player with a bid of £0 since Chievo bid £0 as well... We did win the transfer that mattered since we bid 2 million for Natali whilst Bologna only put in an offer of 1.5 million so we have a very good defender for 5 million less then Bologna were trying to force me to pay.

An unusual message:

"An article in the Financial Times has praised Atalanta's wisdom in purchasing Sun Jihai.

They believe that this transfer will cause a surge of merchandise sales to football fans in China"

Well, I will find out in a few games whether I can continue or not. It seems to be going normally right now, and I am able to see fixtures after the winter break, but if I can't play, oh well, I'll only have to wait two weeks from today. :)

So, I assume you start next season soon? This is fun to read.

Not sure whether to do it again next season. Its a bit like an AAR but for CM... Currently trying to unsettle Sarr from Milan since he has been on loan at Atalanta for the last two seasons but he is no longer listed for loan.

Season 3:

Champions league qualifier 3rd round 1st leg

Atalanta 0-0 Wisla

Should have won the game but most of the players were tired after playing a friendly earlier in the week. Now we must score in the away leg to enter the world of riches that is the champions league.

Game 1/38

Genoa 1-1 Atalanta

The hangover from last season continued as we allowed Genoa to largely dominate the game. Pazzini scored from the penalty spot before Genoa equalised. In the second half the game was more even but we couldn't make the breakthrough to start off the season.

Champions league qualifier 3rd round 2nd leg

Wisla 1-3 Atalanta (1-3)

Perhaps the most important game for Atalanta since it would decide whether they played in the champions league or the Uefa cup. It looked like the teams would go into the break still without a goal but Wisla scored with their first chance of the game to take the lead. Pazzini then came on for the second half and mid way through the second half he turned the game around with 2 goals in two minutes. Montolivo scored a late goal to confirm the result.

Atalanta will be in group C with Porto, Besiktas and Austria Vienna.

Game 2/38

(10th)Juventus 2-0 Atalanta(11th)

Juventus were reduced to 10 men after 25 minutes but after a poor start to the match it seemed to lift them to a new level and a goal on either side of half time gave them the win and stopped any hopes that Atalanta had of continuing their great record against the Turin side.

CL Group C Match 1

Besiktas 1-1 Atalanta

Atalanta will be reasonably disappointed that they didn't get all 3 points after largely dominating the game. However Besiktas got a lucky goal just after half time which left Atalanta chasing an equaliser for much of the game until Montolivo scored a free kick late on to level the scores.

Game 3/38

(17th)Atalanta 1-0 Siena(8th)

One of the most one sided games we've played. Virtually every commentary comment was about an Atalanta attack, however the post and a shot cleared off the line continued to deny Atalanta the lead until Papa Waigo finally beat the Siena goalkeeper in the 90th minute to give the home side their first win of the season.

Game 4/38

(18th)Fiorentina 2-2 Atalanta(14th)

Atalanta scored two goals largely against the run of play and Fiorentina largely deserved their two goals to tie the game although Atalanta did have chances near the end to take the lead again.

CL Group C Match 2

(2nd)Atalanta 1-1 Porto(1st)

Playing perhaps the best team in the group it was good to see a reasonably close match however Atalanta needed a little luck to avoid defeat with a penalty save and then a goal mouth scramble to get the ball away. Kraja scored his first ever goal to equalise in the second half.

Game 5/38

(15th)Atalanta 4-0 Bologna(17th)

The majority of teams in the league have played 6 games before we kicked off in this match so it was a game we needed to win to get some points to avoid getting involved in a relegation scrap. Fortunately a free kick and then a shot from the clearance of a freekick gave Bernardini two goals and another goal from Pazzini before half time put us 3-0 up. A second half goal from Montolivo wrapped up the game.

Game 6/38

(19th)Lazio 0-3 Atalanta(13th)

Facing another team with games in hand over most other teams, Atalanta were hoping to capitalise on last weeks morale boosting victory. Zenoni gave the lead in the first half with a deflected goal, Bianchi doubled Atalanta's lead deservingly after capitalising on a bad backpass and Pazzini struck again to give Atalanta the win.

CL Group C Match 3

(2nd)Austria Vienna 0-3 Atalanta(3rd)

Austria Vienna were the bookmakers slight favourites going into the match but it was a game Atalanta needed to win if they wanted to realistically qualify for the next round. Pazzini helped Atalanta on their way with two goals in the first 15 minutes and Papa Waigo scored late on to confirm Atalanta's dominance in this match.

Game 7/38

(13th)Napoli 1-5 Atalanta(8th)

Over the summer Napoli spent 10 million on Drogba whilst Atalanta spent 2 million to buy the other half of Natali and Natali put the game out of reach with an amazing fluke goal. A long ball from well inside the Atalanta half beat Pazzini and the Napoli goalkeeper to put Atalanta 0-3 up at half time. Pazzini scored twice including an opening penalty and Marcolini and Bianchi also scored. Drogba did score a consolation goal late on.

Game 8/38

(6th)Atalanta 3-1 Verona(4th)

Pazzini scored after a minute and Bernardini doubled the lead after another 5 minutes. Verona were far more impressive in the second half and pulled a goal back but Nero re-established the two goal cushion which gives Atalanta their fifth straight victory.

Game 9/38

(9th)Sampdoria 1-1 Atalanta(5th)

Sampdoria scored after a minute but Pazzini equalised soon after. Before the halftime interval Atalanta had several chances to take the lead but in the second half several changes for tired players saw Sampdoria begin to dominate the game and in the end Atalanta were lucky to escape with a point.

CL Group C Match 4

(2nd)Atalanta 2-0 Austria Vienna(3rd)

This time Atalanta were the favourites but it took until the second half, after Pazzini was brought on, for Atalanta to take the lead. Bianchi scored the first goal from a Pazzini cross and then Pazzini scored the second to leave Atalanta on 8 points.

Game 10/38

(5th)Atalanta 2-0 Triestina(10th)

Last season we won both games against Triestina and again it was a comfortable win with second half goals from Pazzini and Zenoni enough to beat a side that didn't really offer anything in response.

Game 11/38

(4th)Atalanta 1-1 Parma(18th)

A player sent off after 15 minutes ultimately cost us any chance of winning. We did open the scoring with a Pazzini penalty 5 minutes later but from then on Parma had all the shots and deserved their equaliser. The player sent off has now been injured for 6 months in training. Although he is leaving for Arsenal in a month anyway so basically that was his last game for the club.

Game 12/38

(19th)Brescia 2-5 Atalanta(4th)

Brescia scored early on but Pazzini immediately replied. Goals from Nero and Ania gave Atalanta the lead although Brescia pulled one back before the break. In the second half both sides came close to scoring until Bianchi broke through and even playing the last 10 minutes because of 4 injuries couldn't stop Kraja putting the 5th in the back of the net. This is the first game in over a season that we've come from behind to win a game. Also we broke a record for going 14 matches unbeaten.

CL Group C Match 5

(1st)Atalanta 1-0 Besiktas(3rd)

This was Atalanta's chance to qualify for the next round, with a win guarenteeing their place. A Pazzini penalty late in the second half was enough to achieve this although there were plenty of chances to wrap up the game. Atalanta will now be able to look forward to the knockout phase. Porto also qualified.
