Revert Hell Terrain

Neither.

Use the sanctify spell (Life I)
That reverts hell terrain.

It will never revert on it's own, as far as I'm aware. But as above it's fixable so there's no need to raze the city. unless you just want to.

thanks for the information. I am in a war with the Infernals and I wanted to know before I go stuff when i may have options

Depending on religion and alignment it might come back though. Be sure to lower the Armageddon counter, that will help.

Hey I thought this was the case as well until a recent game as the Bannor in which I lost Trinity to the Infernal, everything corrupted to Hell terrain, and then I took Trinity BACK and oh I dunno maybe 100 turns later the Hell terrain suddenly disappeared. Can anyone else confirm that this is how it works? If that's how it's supposed to work, I like it. Corrupted land slowly heals itself when back under the care of a Good civilization.

Hell terrain starts reverting if it spreads to somewhere, but then the AC goes low enough that it shouldn't be there (example: AC is high enough for hell to spread to unowned land, but then lowers past that point so it wouldn't spread there normally.)

Because hell terrain can't normally spread to good civilisations, it will change itself back over time.

Hell terrain reverts wherever it doesn't spread. However, it is slow. Any Infernal territory will take the maximum 90 turns (unmodified by game speed) to revert. Other territory takes time based on how long it's been hellish, but in general terrain surrounded by hell, will also take 90 turns.
