Revised Poll - Technology (t39)

Since we got horses nearby in a unique position near our borders and the fact we will be building settlers, workers and warriors for the next 10 turns anyways, I suggest a new technology poll including a dash for meditation/polytheism through mysticism, still considering pottery and finally writing. It seems there is little support for archery now.

Hehe, I am changing my vote to writing again (from myst), I cannot leave that wish to avoid the religion gamble as well as getting ahead on the research lead. 2 votes for writing now.

Are we sure no religions have been founded yet? Do we have any ideas or guesses as to whether the other teams have mysticism yet? I have not voted yet. I prefer writing over pottery right now. Don't have enough information to decide between writing and mysticism/religion.

No religion has been discovered yet, as these will show up in the score section when they do, or in the "Religion date of founding" view. Still, I would not gamble on getting one right now, writing is safer.

I object to this poll as it is currently phrased. This poll should say "Should we STOP teching Pottery and switch to something else? The choices would be.

1. No, keep teching Pottery
2. Yes, Switch to writing
3. Yes, Switch to Mysticism

I won't bother voting in this poll as currently phrased as it is an obvious "sour grapes" attempt to legitimize backdoor ignoring the results of the tech vote, which clearly chose pottery as the next tech. If you want to tech writing and you don't care what anyone else thinks... then just do it... don't bother putting it to a vote.

Becouse it is impossible to change vote it seems like pottery was chosen . There are 2 post that said they want to change their vote.

I have not yet voted and since only 5 votes have been cast I think there are other's as well who have not voted. I really dislike it when votes are changed since that makes it more difficult to tell the results of the vote. If we run a poll and there is a spate of vote changing that really means the poll and the votes were premature.

We really need to slow down a bit.

I did not vote for pottery in the original poll but now that it is started I would like to hear more about when we would be building cottages. This question has been asked before and I don't recall seeing an answer yet. If we're going to be in a position to build cottages in five turns the I will vote for pottery. If not then, I don't know since I still don't know what we need right now.

ITs very easy. We need a settler to settle the 3rd city, maybe a 2nd settler too. We got one worker, who is booked for the farm, the gold mine, as well as a road or two several turns after turn 50. The cottage thing is more of a buzz, but actually irrelevant, as there is no strong movement for building those cottages right away.

There is plenty to be done in the areas of resources, farms, chops and roads as it stands, and we do not need granary.

I agree, and more information and research needs to be done, and posted for those who don't have BtS so an informed decision can be made. This can be improved by doing simple things like turning on 'detailed city info' in the graphics part of options!!

Those were the exact questions I had, which was why I ran a test. Unless someone SHOWS me otherwise that pottery is best now I am going for writing.

Yes, the pottery proponents should present a more detailed alternative to the writing alternative. If they cannot provide one, for any reason, they should keep their peace. This is a strategy game, not a lottery.

It seems writing is better now than pottery. (Does building our second worker in Hazrat-e change that?) That still leaves a choice between writing and mysticism (with meditation or polytheism after that). This one is more difficult to play test since we'd be racing for a religion and do not have much info on our competition. Of course if we go for a religion and get it that's still 15 turns down the road and then we must either delay writing to get pottery or delay cottages to get writing. Thoughts on this anyone?

Writing gives us a higher tech rate. Right now noone has researched even the prerequisites for an Oracle slingshot. This does give us good odds of getting at least one early religion. We should be teching faster than people can chop a wonder.

I would think that getting a religion very soon would be good for our team. Soon we will need to think of the happiness limit and try and increase it to allow our cities to grow.
