This is a pretty interesting game. Right now I only have the "Lite" version (free), but am considering buying the full title once I figure out the controls a bit better. It appears to have been made in Russia or someplace, the instructions alternate between a babelfish translation and a sarcastic angst-ridden teen. However, since CivRev hasn't been released to the Android yet, this is the best I can find to get my Civ fix away from my computer.

Does anyone else play this game, and if so, what are your thoughts?

I've been playing this on my Nokia N97 (Symbian, not Android) and it's great. The touch controls are a bit fiddly (it helps to have a physical keyboard as well). But underneath it is a great game engine.

It's basically Civ lite. You can form alliances with other civilisations, develop technology, build towns etc. There are not all the nuances you get with full Civ, of course, but this is easily the most involved mobile game I've played.

The 'training' mode is very helpful. In fact, I'm still on it - round 43! The last 15 rounds have basically been increasing difficult scenarios. And after that there's all sorts of campaigns. Basically, the game is huge.

So, I would say that if you love Civ, and you get the opportunity to try it, definitely check it out. Don't be put off by the interface. It's awkward, but you soon get used to it.

So I just looked on the android market, and it has a grand average of just under two stars. Most people citing completely unplayable controls. Think I'll take a pass. Shame, looks fun.

I gave it two stars on Nokia's Ovi store, for exactly that reason. But after playing it some more I changed my mind because you do pick them up after a while. The controls aren't great, but they are bearable I think and frankly it is a joy to be able to play a Civ-alike on my mobile!

I hope they'll do a v3, optimised for touch screens.

I bough via paid sms from developers page for one of my phones with java, but this phone have small display so it looked more bad than "Revival Deluxe" (previous version), also phone crashed losing memory, so I will have to buy it once again, and it is pity that it does not want to work on my 2nd phone with larger display, while "Revival Deluxe" does.
